I'm pulled from my writing when my phone rang. I set my pen down and closed the book. I grabbed my phone and answered it.

"It's Eddy."

"Ed, it's Carlton, we're gonna to need you in for tomorrow." He explains through the static. Carlton is my boss at a car place I work at.

He's also the only person that cared to give me a chance to work because in the eyes of others I'm apparently essential.

"Tomorrow is Wednesday and it's also my day off." I firmly explain.

"I know but Jimmy got sick. It's not like you're working for free anyways. Or have anything else better to do."

In truth, he's partially right. Siville is a quiet, low populated town with nothing much to do. And for me, it was an off the grid move.

I forced a grin. "You are absolutely right. What else is there to do? I'll be in at nine as always."

"Yeah, see you there."

He hung up and I set my phone down. I glanced down at the cover of my journal, as some may call it. I think the word is a bit puerile.
