Chapter 20

Niragi's POV:
I watched as Hatter drove away to play a few games. I glared at him. If it wasn't for him I'd still be with Chishiya right now. That night I tried to sleep, but I couldn't. I got used to spending the whole night with Chishiya. I had never thought that I'd miss a person that much. Enough to be kept awake by thoughts of them. Enough to be willing to do anything to have them back. Why the fuck did I yell at him? Why the fuck did I get angry at him for wanting to leave this hell? It's not like he was coming up to me and begging to get me back, so clearly he hated me. Rather than letting myself sleep, I spent an hour and half going down a rabbit hole, to the point where I was convinced Chishiya would try to sabotage me or even kill me in a game and that I needed to avoid him at all costs, but I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to be as far away from him as possible, I wanted to be as close to him as possible. "Why won't my brain just shut up?!" I whisper shouted to myself. I fell asleep to my loud thoughts. My dreams were pitch black, lonely, and still. I didn't expect anything to come to mind as the only thing my brain would take from that day was how I felt. The same as my dreams. Pitch black and lonely.

Chishiya's POV:
A meeting was called about something going on. I invited Arisu to join. As I walked down the hall I heard Niragi around the corner. "What the hell do you two want? No one asked you to come here." I stopped and sighed. I continued walking. I guess I had to speak to him. "Actually, I'm the one asked him" I said glaring at him. He turned around. "Yeah? Who says you can summon people now?" He said tilting his back a little. "There's something important he has to hear." I looked at Arisu. "Let's go in" I said ignoring Niragi's glare. "What's going on?" He asked as we approached the room. "Not a clue. But it's gotta be something pretty serious." As we walked in we saw Hatter dead on the table in front of us. Ann walked up to his body. "Hey do me a favour and keep your hands off him. You're obsessed with dissecting things" Niragi said with a small smirk. "This is from a bullet" she said. Everyone stood around Hatter's body wondering what to do. "I'll step in as leader since I'm Number 2" said Kuzuryu. "Wait a second" Niragi I said. I rolled my eyes at him and he gave me a side eye before focusing back on Kuzuryu. "Shouldn't the strongest person be the leader?" He said. "In case you didn't know, we're the ones who have been getting rid of the traitors, but we've been thrown into the shadows the whole time. The bullshit ends now you got that?!" He yelled. "If Number 1 dies..." Kuzuryu interrupted "everyone moves up by a number. We all knew that" He continued. "Yeah well this elitist dictator is dead" Niragi responded. "The power has shifted hasn't it? Let's just be democratic and go with the majority" he said smirking once again. He chuckled. "Who's with me and thinks that Aguni should be our new leader?" He asked. Nobody raised their hand. "Are you all serious right now...? Last Boss.." He said nodding towards Last Boss across the room. Last Boss threatened Ann with his blade. "So I'll ask again. Who thinks Aguni should be the leader?" He turned his head towards me and we kept eye contact for a few seconds waiting for Ann to raise her hand. Finally, Niragi looked back at Ann and laughed. "This is not a democracy" said Mira. Niragi scoffed. "But I think it is isn't it?" He said pointing his gun at Mira. "You can vote however you want, right?" He got close to her and stuck his tongue out. I tried to keep my facial expression neutral to show him I didn't care, but I really cared. He thinks just because we had a fight and broke up that he can go hit on who ever again. "And how about our former number 2 over there? What do you think?" He asked Kuzuryu. Kuzuryu hesitantly raised his hand. Niragi turned around to look at me. "And what about you?" He asked me. I blankly stared at him acting like I wasn't listening just to piss him off. "Chishiya. You're not looking down on us are ya?" He asked me coming closer. "You're all idiots" I responded. He came closer, pointing his gun at me. I looked up at him making full eye contact. "Those eyes of yours really piss me off sometimes, you know that?" He said angrily. "You really think you're better than us don't you?" I stared at him for a second. I put my hands up and smirked. "I vote for Aguni to be the leader. I'm pretty sure that's what you wanna hear, don't you?" He scoffed. "Let this be a reminder of how you should act in the future." I just smiled and tried not to laugh at him. As he walked by everyone they raised their hands in fear. "Looks like we have a unanimous decision!" He said laughing. "Hatter would not allow this!" Mira said. "If he were alive he would not have allowed this." "But he's not alive is he?" Niragi laughed as he walked over to Hatter's dead body. He started smashing his gun into Hatter's forehead. "The dead really have no say in what's going on. Watch!" He said continuing. "See?" "That's enough!" Aguni yelled. "From this day onwards...I will be the Beach's new king." "Let's hear it for the king, huh?!" Niragi yelled clapping. "Time for the succesion ceremony right?" He asked Aguni. "Maybe you should open up the black envelope." I smiled. Fuck Niragi. I didn't have to be unhappy just because of him. This is where my plan would really begin.
