"Tallulah, you can talk to me!" Jauna heard Wilbur yell from down the hall. She was in her guest room, sitting on the bed. She wasn't necessarily homesick, just sick of feeling homeless. Laying back on her bed, jauna tried to relax. But Wilbur's yelling only made Jauna think about her past.

-Flashback-

"Jauna, Háblame. (Talk to me.)" Mariana knocked on the door of Jauna's teenage bedroom. She had just turned 14, and the day was ruined by school. "¿Qué pasó en la escuela? (What happened at school?)"

"Is she talking?" Charlie asked while walking down the hall.

"No, she is being muy difícil (very difficult.) She will not talk to me." Mariana sighed in defeat and leaned into his husband's from-the-back hug. The only time they weren't at each other's throats, was when they had to be parents. They weren't the best of people, but they wanted to be the best of mediocre parents. To stop their child from being anywhere near as insane as them. They've clearly already failed though, especially Charlie. Who let his temper and darkness take over most days.

"Well the principal says she got in a fight with a boy..." Charlie knocked on the door, louder. No doubt making the girl flinch from underneath her covers. "Come on niñita. Tell Papá what happened, and I'll sort it out." There was movement, shuffling, then the door opened. "There's my girl, what happened?"

"No quiero que entres en pánico (I don't want you to panic.)" Jauna spoke in Spanish, clearly directing her voice to Mariana. Her just as terrible, but not physically abusive father. "Está bien... Estoy bien. (It's okay, I'm okay.)"

"¿Qué pasó? (What happened?)" Mariana asked, eyeing Charlie.

"You can tell me too." Charlie spoke bitterly. "I'm your dad too. You can tell us both."

"Padre primero... tú después (father first, you next.)"

"She wants to tell me first..." Mariana translated. "¿Qué pasó, mi dulce niña? (What happened, my sweet girl?)"

"En la escuela...(at school)" Jauna started and then burst into tears, unable to finish her confession.

Mariana and Charlie both kneeled so they could hug her Short frame fully and passionately. It was one of those rare moments where they got along, and made her feel loved.

"You can tell us, Jauna. You know we won't get mad at you for hitting that boy. Frankly, I hate little boys. I'd bet he deserved it." Charlie whispered jokingly while rubbing her back.

"El chico me bajó los pantalones. (The boy pulled down my pants.)"

Mariana gasped first, leaving Charlie trying to figure out what she said. "He...pulled down your pants?" Charlie asked, wondering if he translated correctly.

"Sí (yes)."

"¡Mataré a ese chico! (I'll kill that boy!)" Mariana declared, and Juana knew he was serious.

-Flashback Over-

The next morning Jauna joined Wilbur and Tallulah for breakfast. It was deathly silent. No one wanted to speak, clearly something awful had happened to Tallulah. That explained how Wilbur suddenly looked years older. Any second he might sprout a grey hair.
