Potions Class

All the boys and girls gathered around a table. Slughorn stood behind it and had four vials.

"Now, as I was saying. I've prepared a few concoctions this morning. Any idea what these might be? Yes, Miss Granger?" Slughorn called on Hermione. Of course, she knew.

"That one there is Veritaserum. And that one would be Polyjuce potion. And that... is Amortentia! The most powerful love potion in the world."

Hermione stepped up to the table and smelled the potion. "It's rumoured to smell differently to each person, according to what attracts them. For example, I smell freshly mowed grass and new parchment and... spearmint toothpaste-"

Hermione stopped herself, with a bit of blush forming on her cheeks. Slughorn praised her and then continued.

"How about another person smells this," Slughorn asked. "Miss Y/L/N, why don't you come over here."

Uh oh... I slowly walked up to the table and leaned forward, taking in the smell of the potion. I closed my eyes and became startled by the smell.

"So, what do you smell?" the professor asked.

"Ink, books, and-" I tried to explain but got confused. I detected a strong scent that resembled a cologne or perfume. Whose can it be? "I don't know the last one..."

"Draco?" Slughorn asked. "How about you give it a go."

Draco's Point of View

Draco walked up to the desk and immediately had different scents wander into his nostrils.

"What do you smell?"

The words just came out of my mouth; no control at all. "Ink and books. And this beautiful perfume..."

I realized what came out of my mouth. The embarrassment began to come to me. I created my hand into a fist and walked back to my spot.

"It's my perfume," Pansy whispered to Astoria. "It has to be!"

However, the scent of Pansy's perfume was quite unpleasant, and I found it difficult to tolerate. Astoria's fragrance wasn't any better. As I took a whiff of Y/N's perfume, it all made sense to me! I recalled waking up next to her and kissing her neck in the morning. She most likely had sprayed her perfume there. That's when I knew it was the most delightful scent I had ever experienced. Why am I thinking about stuff like this? I thought, dropping my head, and I began to look at my feet.

"Sir? What's in that one?" Hermione asked.

"Ah, yes..." Slughorn began. He walked over to the black cauldron and picked up a tiny vial. "What you see before you, ladies and gentlemen, is a curious little potion. It is known as Felix Felicis.  But, it is more commonly referred to as"

"Liquid Luck," Hermione blurted out.

The class began to whisper things to each other. Even I perked my head up. Granger never interested me, but this certainly did.

"Yes, Miss Granger. Desperately tricky to make. Disastrous should you get it wrong. But brewed correctly, as this has been, it has remarkable powers. One sip and you will find that all your endeavours succeed... at least until the effects wear off..." Professor Slughorn explained and then cut to the chase. "So. This is what I offer each of you today. One tiny vial of liquid luck... to the student who manages to brew an acceptable Draught of Living Death in the hour that remains, the recipe for which can be found on page ten of your textbook."

The whole class hurried to their tables and began to create the potion. Sopophorous beans were flying everywhere. Blaise managed to aim a bean at my face; I will be beating him up later.

"This is ridiculous," I mumbled. Somehow, Blaise's potion began to turn into a solid.

I had to get this vial of Liquid Luck. I needed it more than anyone else in this room. If anyone could understand what I am going through, they would know I'm desperate for this. It's my only hope...

Sweat dripped down my worried face. You have to get this... I thought, and with all the distraction I had created myself, my knife slipped from the bean and landed on my finger. A small cut formed, and the red blood trickled onto my pale skin.

"Oh, you alright, mate?" Blaise asked, looking at my finger.

"It's just a bloody cut," I muttered. "I'm not a baby."

"You've been awful moody these days," Blaise said, a bit annoyed.

Y/N's Point of View

"Moody?" I whispered, overhearing Draco and Blaise.

He is more tense in public now than he used to be. He always seemed melancholy, except when he was around me. Our relationship was sudden, and I still can't comprehend how it happened. Tutoring was the only reason we talked, and I got to know him. I'm sure all his friends know about him, but I'm surprised he confided in me so quickly. I didn't even think I was attracted to him, but there were signs. I found myself thinking about him during class and even dreaming about him. He's undeniably gorgeous, with his blonde hair that's lighter than everyone else's and his eyes that have a cold look but warm up when he gazes at me. His skin is pale, but it turns light pink when embarrassed. Hearing Draco's heartbeat is like listening to a melody.

What am I doing to myself? I thought and allowed myself to give a glance at him. He does seem to be working hard.

I should get this for him! What I mean is if this potion is good enough, I might be able to give him my vial of Liquid Luck. I don't need any luck. The luckiest thing that's happened to me was getting him...
