Chapter 27: The Bushida Family

Chie rushed down the hall, looking desperately at her phone.

Chie: Come on, pick up! I need you right now, Kai!

Kai was her brother, he had graduated from U.A. around seven years prior. Chie had always trusted Kai with anything that she had on her mind. He usually picked up almost right away, but this time it was taking forever.

Chie: Damn it, what was I thinking!? You got too emotional, Chie, now you're in deep shit! What am I even supposed to say to Uraraka!? What am I supposed to say to Mom...

Without looking, she turned the corner and ran headfirst into someone. Both Chie and the boy fell over.

Chie, rubbing her head: S-Sorry! I wasn't-

Regaining her focus, she realized that she had bumped into Kirishima. He had already gotten up and was holding out his arm to help her up.

Kirishima: It's alright, I guess we both got lost in thought.

Chie grabbed his hand and pulled herself up.

Chie: Today has been too much of a rollercoaster for my liking...

Kirishima: What's going on, is everything alright?

Chie, already rushing through the hall: I'm fine!

Kirishima: Hey, wait!

Before he could say anything else, she was already at the other end of the hall.

Kirishima: What was that about?

Kirishima noticed something on the ground, it was her phone. She was getting a call from Kai. Kirishima picked up her phone and answered it for her.

Kirishima: Hel-

Kai, urgently: Chie, are you okay!? I was caught up with something, but I should be fine to talk now.

Kirishima: U-Uh...

Kai: Wait, who is this?

Kirishima: M-My name is Kirishima, sir. Chie dropped her phone and I figured that this was the reason that she was running so fast, so I answered.

Kai: Where is she then?

Kirishima: I don't know, she ran into me and ran away before she could pick up her phone.

Kai: Then chase after her, I've never gotten this many missed calls from her before! She's probably upset Mom, and I don't even want to think about what she said to get her upset.

Kirishima, starting to follow where he saw Chie: Alright!

Almost instantly, as Kirishima turned the corner, he collided with Chie again. Kai heard the two yelp from over the phone and started laughing. Chie, hearing his voice, took the phone from Kirishima's hand.

Chie: Kai!

Kai, calming down: Sorry, you two just sounded so pathetic!

Chie: It's not funny!

Kai: I know, I know. What happened, Chie? Mom started to call me just before you blew up my phone.

Kirishima: I-I should go-

Chie: Wait!

Kirishima stopped.

Chie: I-I feel like you should know this, too. I've already made you suspicious of me, after all.

Kirishima: Are you sure? I can just leave if you don't want to tell me.

Chie: I'm sure.

She took a deep breath, readying herself for what she was about to say.
