THE CAFETERIA WAS bustling with noise as we all sat together.
"Guys! I got us the opportunity of a lifetime, we're gonna be rich!" Jerry exclaims as he runs over.
"For the last time your moms car has a leak there's no oil under your house," Milton states with a sigh, as if this has been mentioned many times before.
"No! I signed us up for the battle of the dance crews at the mall. Check it!" Jerry explains, showing us the flyer in his hand.
"Woah first prize wins a thousand dollars?!" I exclaim as I look closer at the paper shocked. "It's not just about the money! I've always loved dancing, you know when I was a baby my mom hung a disco ball over my crib," Jerry says with a proud grin.
"Did it ever fall on your head?" Jack asks as he laughs, "Jack!" I whisper yell as I hit his shoulder, all he does is grin in response as he stands up.
"Did what ever fall on my head?" Jerry asks, truly confused, Jack's grin falls and I start snickering behind my hand.
To change the subject Eddie cuts in, "Jerry, that sounds great, but we're not a dance crew."
"I have the skills and I'll teach you the moves, and if we work hard we can win this together, now what do you say?" He asks grinning.
We all agree, happy to help out Jerry with something he really enjoys and wants to do.
"Wasabi?" Jerry says, we all smile, "Wasabi!"
"Is it just me or are these falafel balls greasier than usual?" Jack asks as he picks one up, squeezing it as a bunch of oil pours out. "You know what I think I'm full," I say as I push my food away.
"No that looks about right," Jerry says nonchalantly, "this food will be the death of us," I sigh.
"Oh check it out, that's Dan Brennan, he's the best dancer at our school. They call him smooth," Jerry says pointing out the boy behind us.
My eyes widen at the familiar name as I sink into my seat.
"Because he's got great dance moves?" Jack asks as he looks at Dan, "and his skins crazy soft, yo we're talking velvet," Jerry says his tone getting a bit serious at the last part.
I hear footsteps coming over, I quickly try to shuffle under the table but he was already here.
I drop my head on the table as he speaks, "hey Jerry," he goes silent for a bit as he looks at Jack. "Jack," he introduces, "eh," is all he gets in return.
