"So what did Inko want?" Izuku turned to his father.
"To talk with you." Shota sighed.
"That's it? She bought expensive tickets to a festival she doesn't care about just to talk to me? Someone who, during the entire two years out of prison, never even attempted to get ahold of before. I bet she didn't even know you adopted me." Izuku scoffed.
"She asked how someone homeless managed to get in the festival. She wasn't even joking."
"It is a fair assumption, though." Hitoshi teased earning himself a slap in the back of the head.
"You know you don't have to or even should talk to her, right?" Shota asked.
"Yeah, I know. Did she give you her information?"
"She tried to, but I kicked her out. If you want to get ahold of her, I can find her information for you."
"No, I'm good. I was just curious." Izuku sighed.
"What's going on up there, Izuku? What are you feeling?" Shota searched Izuku's eyes for some sort of emotion. Even the anger coming from Izuku didn't feel completely genuine.
"I don't know? I mean, what does that even mean? She abused me for months before abandoning me in one of the most quirkist towns in Japan. Now she wants to talk to me even though she's been out of prison for two years? And the timing, of all things. She didn't want anything to do with me until I made it into one of the best hero schools in Japan. What does it mean? What am I supposed to feel?" Izuku looked at his father who simply pulled Izuku in for a hug.
"It's ok not to know. You don't have to know everything that your feeling all the time. You just need time to sort through it all." Shota comforted.
"Dad, what do I do?" Shota felt his hoodie getting wet, but he didn't care.
"Whatever feels right to you. If you want to speak with her, you can do that. If you don't want to, then don't. Whatever you choose, I'll support it."
To show his support, Shikamaru purred and rubbed himself against Izuku's leg, meowing a little when Izuku picked him up. "Why, thank you, Shikamaru."
"Lazy bastard finally got up." Shota snorted.
"And willingly interacted with someone." Hitoshi added.
"I'm his favorite." Izuku sniffed and smiled a little. Izuku felt his phone buzz and pulled it out, shifting Shikamaru to be held by one arm. The buzz was from a message from Shoto. They had started texting a little a few days ago. Mostly Izuku supporting Shoto's visits to his mother and listening to whatever Shoto has to say about the visits.
Shoto: Would you like to visit my mother tomorrow? I told my family, aside from my shitty old man, that you knew Touya. I didn't tell them everything, just that you knew Touya. Fuyumi asked me to invite you to visit my mother to simply talk about Touya. Fuyumi and Natsuo will be there too.
Izuku looked at his phone in disbelief. Was he really invited to meet Shoto's mom? Scratch that. Shoto's family? What if they didn't like him? If they didn't approve his and Shoto's friendship... didn't approve of Izuku, what would he do? Would that be the end of their friendship? Nooooo. That would be terrible. His phone buzzed again.
Shoto: Fuyumi didn't mean tomorrow. She meant the time after we visit her tomorrow.
Shoto: Fuyumi says you are welcome anyway.
Shoto: she said it was rude to just spring this on you. Sorry?
Izuku chuckled.
"Tomorrow, can I visit Shoto's mom? He invited me to speak with her and his family. Talk about Touya with them. I think it'll be nice to talk to someone else who knew Touya." Izuku asked having no idea that saying no to a teary eyed Izuku was actually illegal. Not that Shota would say no in the first place.
