Why?

"A movie and dinner? You're really spoiling me." Izuku giggled.

"Is that a bad thing?" Shoto took Izuku's hand in his own.

"Never. I'm just wondering what the special occasion is. I mean, this isn't exactly a casual restaurant."

"I just felt like it. We've been together for a few months, and a lot has happened since then. I just wanted to show you that I love you. Especially since we're not going to have a lot of time together soon."

"I guess I'm gonna need to step up my game. I- oh my gosh! Is that Iida and Uraraka?" Izuku whisper shouted and pointed at his two friends.

"Are they on a date?" Shoto looked at the two, completely lost in their own world.

"I had my suspicions, but this practically confirms it. I'm so happy for them."

"How long do you think this has been going on for?"

"Not long. He's still trying way too hard to impress her. Fancy restaurants aren't really her thing, but she's still happy to be spending time with him."

"Really? I thought she'd like to eat at a nice restaurant. She's always talking about wanting to be rich."

"She wants to be rich so her and her parents can live comfy, not fancy."

"You two have been spending a lot of time together recently. Mostly with All Might, too. What's going on there?" Shoto didn't miss the way Izuku tensed.

"Well-" Izuku was cut off by Shoto's laugh.

"You don't have to tell me if you're not ready to. Just know, I'm here when you're ready." Izuku visibly relaxed.

That's when a very nervous waiter approached them. He was clearly shaking and sweating. He reached into one of his lower pockets and pulled something out. A detonator. No.

"Everyone, down!" Izuku tackled the man to ground. Just far enough so that, so long as it was a strong blast, no one else would die. Izuku moved fast to disarm the man, but not fast enough.

One minute, you're happily enjoying a date with your boyfriend, the next, he's dead in an explosion and you can't think straight because you have a concussion, not that you'd be able to think straight anyway because the guy you're in love with just died protecting a restaurant full of people from an explosion. Then you're surrounded by your friends that were also in that explosion. Both crying heavily as they continue to ask where Izuku is, but you can barely hear them let alone understand them.

Then you're in an ambulance? When did that happen? Who's in front of you, asking question? What's this on your shoulders? It's a blanket. Oh. What's that building in front of you? It looks destroyed, but only part of it. Like an explosion went off. One did.

You were on a date with Izuku. There was a nervous waiter in front of you. Different from the one who took your orders previously. Izuku jumps up, yells at everyone to get down, and tackles the waiter. They went pretty far. Izuku's always been strong, so of course he could tackle someone and push them far from everyone. Then boom, he's gone. Except you don't remember a boom, but of course there was. You went flying back and felt the heat of it, so there was definitely a boom.

Shoto stared at that building with a blank expression, but tears running down his face. That's a stupid building. A dumb building. He hates that building. He can't stay there anymore. He has to get away, so he runs. He runs faster than everyone else. He runs until he can't anymore. He runs until he's so lost he doesn't even know which way is up.
