Izuku couldn't remember the last time he felt this awake. All the sedatives were out of his system and he felt like dancing. Well, he felt like dancing until Tsukauchi entered his hospital room.
"Welcome back, Izuku. It's good to see you." Tsukauchi said.
"Thanks and I'd say it's good to see you, too if I didn't know why you were here." Izuku sighed.
"I'm really sorry I have to ask you this." Tsukauchi really did look sorry.
"No, I get it, it's your job. I don't mean to be rude, but can we just get this over with? I want to think of this as little as possible."
"Eri, do you want to go to the cafeteria with me?" Shota decided it would be best for Eri to leave the room for this conversation.
"Is big brother coming, too?" Eri asked.
"Go on without me, Eri. I should stay and talk to the detective."
"De- tec- tive. Detective." Eri whispered to herself. "Ok, I'll be back so don't go anywhere."
"I won't." Izuku smiled.
"Goodbye, Mr. De- de... de- tec- tive. Detective. Goodbye Mr. Detective."
"Goodbye, Eri." Eri left the room, completely oblivious to the fact that everyone else was dying with how cute she was. It only increased when the door shut and they heard her ask Shota what a detective is.
"Alright, can we get back to it now? I just want this to be over with." Izuku sighed.
"Of course." Tsukauchi nodded, all joy disappearing from his face to his professional one. "Do you know what they were planning?"
"Yes, they wanted to permanently erase everyone's quirk. They had created a drug for that using Eri's blood. I destroyed all the permanent quirk erasers, but wasn't able to destroy all of the temporary ones while Eri was escaping."
"If they had everything they wanted using Eri, why were you taken?"
"Overhaul wanted to study quirkless blood and compare it to the blood of those who had their quirk temporarily erased. He was able to figure out what the drug was missing by looking at my blood. I don't know why else they wanted my blood, but that's the only reason Overhaul kept me alive for as long as he did. He wanted to kill me right after. The doctor said he needed my blood and Overhaul still had things to discover about what his quirk can do on people.
"I had pushed my luck the day you guys found me. I saw him looking for Eri, so I made sure he focused on me instead. He ordered the doctor to drain all my blood. The doctor didn't have any tools to drain my blood quickly, so it was just one very slow needle."
"If we had waited one more day..." Tsukauchi muttered.
"I'd look like a human raisin instead of having this conversation." Izuku finished.
"Is there anything else he did? To you or Eri?"
"No." Tsukauchi didn't need his quirk to know Izuku was lying.
"Izuku, I understand this must be difficult for you, but we need to know everything he's done. We can't charge for the things he's done if we don't know what he did."
"It doesn't matter. He only did it to me and no judge is going to care what happens to a quirkless." Izuku shook.
"I think you are severely underestimating your importance. There are a lot of people who aren't quirkless calling you a hero. They love you and some may not like you because you are quirkless, but there are a lot more who will want to bring justice to the man who hurt you." Izuku looked at Tsukauchi with wide eyes. He briefly wondered if he was lying before remembering the detective is honest to a fault.
