OMNISCIENT POV
Same day"Why is she here?" Janet asks Michael with the upmost disgusted expression on her face.
"Dunk. Stop it."
"You don't have to act like this towards me. No one else hates me as much as you do, Janet. I don't get it." Joh'vonnie says calmly. Her speaking voice slightly shocking Kamya. From what she was told by Janet, this estranged sister was ghetto. Unhinged. Spiteful. She expected for her to sound like those girls in high school that ate Flamin Hots and fought in the hallways at 7:30 am.
"I don't hate you. I just don't like you."
"Why? Because of daddy? Him and my mother's wrong doings have nothing to do with me" Joh'vonnie says, making Janet cringe. Kamya takes mental note of Janet's reaction to the statement
"You're the result. The evidence."
"And? We're both mistakes Janet! Daddy didn't want no more kids after Randy! But here we are. Ghetto twins"
Janet's face become beet red and it's apparent that she's about to come harder at Joh'vonnie but everything stands still when Mike gets a call. His fair skin growing visibly clammy as sweat beads fall from his nose and forehead
"Nae it can't. We still have 7 weeks... wait what? Call the ambulance! We're on our way. Naomi hang up this damn phone and call the damn ambulance! Stop being so fuckin hard headed!" He yells. Kamya starts to panic
"She ok? Take me to her"
"Her water broke. I gotta go. Come on Von. Y'all meet us there!" He yells while running to his 2019 Rolls Royce Cullinan with Joh'vonnie following behind closely
"That nigga be gone in them penny loafers, boa" Kamya says and the two of them head to the car.
The two ride in silence for a little under five minutes until Kamya finally breaks the ice.
"Goldie.""Mya."
"Why you get so tight when she called y'all dad, Daddy?" She asks, semi scared of her wife's response.
"Joe was a weird man," janet starts and sighs before continuing, "I mean no disrespect to him when I say that either, but his behavior never made sense. He would whoop our asses for calling him dad but this bastard child could call him all of the affectionate names I so badly wanted to call him. We couldn't celebrate holidays and birthdays but that outside child of his could. It made me hate her."
"But baby, she has nothing to do with that." Kamya says, not understanding how Janet could fix her lips to say she hates her slightly younger sister because of her dad's faults.
"You wouldn't get it, Kamya."
"I'm trying to get it, Jan. I want a clearer understanding baby. That's all"
"if he didn't get involved with her mother, he'd still be here."
"He made his bed, he had to lay in it. You can't blame her mother either. He knew the consequences of getting involved with that lady's brother. He was a damn drug pusher."
"She had the childhood with my father that I always wanted, Mya. That's it. It makes me so fuckin upset. Not to mention the brother I tell everything to, never cared to mention that he's been in contact with her. Now if it's ok with you, I'd really like to focus on getting to the hospital to see my niece being birthed"
Janet says with an attitude. Kamya's feelings being semi-hurt, she nods and looks out of the window-silently riding along the rest of the way.• • • • •
"Mike, hold her hand bro! You're bout to piss me off!" Janet yells at Michael who's going into a panic as Naomi pushes with each contraction.
