"I don't understand Robie, there's another woman?"

"what do you mean another woman mother. There's one woman, that's it."

I smiled down at him. Robert's mother left the room, bringing the girl in the pink dress with her. Robert ran up the stairs as soon as she left.

"I'm so sorry it's so late I didn't expect all that." He said, kissing me on the cheek and walking into the bedroom.

"Uh Robert can we please discuss this? Like it's been a crazy day today. This morning I walked in here thinking there was a business meeting and we ended up sleeping together randomly and then almost around 11 but you got wrapped up in all this drama.

"I'm sorry I didn't plan on being set up with some random girl, my mother just wants me to marry some wealthy family without even knowing the girl."

"I don't fit your mother's standards do I..?"

"I think she wants me to be with a woman SHE picks out for me, you could be 15 times richer or 15 times more beautiful than every girl in town and she'd still rather me be with someone she picked out."

"Well how do I get her to like me?"

"Well how about at the ball tomorrow I'll introduce you, just be yourself, shower her with compliments or something, I'm not sure why she wouldn't like you." Robert said.

"I just don't understand why she wants to pick a girl out for you...like what are we goldfish at a pet store?"

Robert laughed.

"I have to head home anyways, my mother and sister are probably wondering where I've been since noon."

"Oh, right, very well then. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Probably, goodnight." I left Robert's house and headed back to my own.

I was in such a hurry to get out that I left in my nightgown. I wasn't mad at him, but I needed some time to think. I don't know how I'm supposed to basically force a woman to like me, and to like me and approve of me enough to date her son. I'm literally doomed. And I'd be even more doomed if she found out what happened the first time Robert and I even were alone together. No first date, no nothing. Sure I'd had conversations with him at parties but we'd always go our separate ways, I had no idea he felt THAT way about ME. But apparently he did. I sincerely hope his mother doesn't ask me anything about how we met. The way everything happened would be very improper to her. But that's the way things are and there's nothing I can do about it.

I finally got home, around 2 am. I snuck through the front door, my younger sister who was 12 was asleep on the couch, holding something she was knitting. Looked like some sort of deformed scarf. She had her dark blonde hair in two braids and was wearing a white nightgown, like mine. I laid down on the couch next to her, and fell asleep.

I woke up around 10am the next morning, my little sister stood in-front of me with a cup of coffee.

"You got home late." She said.

"How'd you know?" I asked, taking he coffee from her.

"I was awake, just too tired to open my eyes. Don't worry though, mother doesn't know you were out that late." She said.

"Thanks Kitty."

My little sister, Kit, (kitty) had always kept my secrets for me, no matter what. But the issue was that she always wanted to know everything about my life. Even things I didn't want to tell her.

"So who were you with that late?" She asked, raising her eyebrows up and down and laughing to herself.

"None of your business." I said laughing, and standing up to go back to my bedroom.

"You know I saw you run off with that boy yesterday."

"What?" I asked. I began to worry.

"At the dinner party, me and mother were there thinking you were off with your friends. We met a nice young lady there too, about your age. Mother wants you to meet her, she says you have no social life."

"I very much have a social life kitty, what would you know about it."

"Well a social life is a bit different than a love life y/n."

"And what do you know about my love life?" I asked.

"I already told you, I saw you run off with that boy."

"Do you know his name?"

"No." She said.

I smiled, my secret was still safe. "Good. I'll be upstairs getting ready."

"Ooooooo getting ready to see whoooo." She laughed.

"Shut it!" I yelled, closing my door.
