Tara

I kept stealing glances at him as he drove.
Aditya.

The same boy who had just confessed to me… was now sitting beside me like nothing had changed.

How was he so calm?
And why was my heart still racing like it hadn’t heard the end of it?

Suddenly—
the car jerked.

Then stopped.

Aditya frowned, turning the key again.
Nothing.

“I think I need to check the engine,” he said, glancing outside.

Rain poured heavily against the windshield.

“But it’s raining…” I said, hesitating.

“It’s fine. You stay here.”
I shook my head. “We’re close to your place, right? Let’s just go there first. You can check the car later.”

He looked at me, considering.

“…We’ll get drenched.”

A small smile tugged at my lips.

“We can run.”

His gaze lingered on me for a second.
Then he smirked.

“…Okay.”
“Your ankle?” he asked again, softer this time.

“I’m fine.”
We stepped out.

The rain hit instantly—cold, sharp, and wild.

I grabbed the sleeve of his shirt without thinking.
“Let’s run!”
And I did.

But within seconds, his sleeve slipped from my grip.

Before I could react—
his hand caught mine.
Firm.
Warm.

“You know,” he said, running beside me, “I’m pretty fast.”

“Wait—!” I laughed breathlessly. “I can’t run like you!”

He slowed down, matching my pace.

“I’m kidding. I’ll go easy on you.”

Rain soaked us completely.

My hair clung to my face.
My clothes felt heavy.
And yet—

I couldn’t stop smiling.

“Tara,” he said suddenly, looking at me, “you’re completely drenched… do you want to come to my place? It’s nearby.”

“What?” I blinked.

“You’ll get sick like this,” he said casually. “It’s really close.”

“…Okay.”

We reached within minutes.

His house stood quiet, simple… nothing like the grand home his family lived in.
I wanted to ask—

but didn’t.

“Come in,” he said, opening the door.
Warmth greeted us instantly.

“You can take a shower,” he added. “I’ll give you something to wear.”

Shower?
At his place?

Was I the only one who thought this was—

“Achoo!”
“Oh no—” he stepped closer immediately.

“I’m fine,” I said quickly, embarrassed. “You change first. I’ll just dry myself.”

He handed me a t-shirt.
Black.
