Where are your friends when you need them? They dared to abandon me when they convinced me to come! Now I'm stuck here, alone, and bored out of my mind. I knew I should have just stayed home and watched Netflix all night. I made my way through the crowd, trying to find them, but they were nowhere to be found.
The music was loud, and the drinks were flowing. I could see people dancing and laughing; some were playing games, while others were chatting and socializing. The atmosphere was electric and lively, with colorful lights flashing and illuminating the room. An aroma of alcohol blended with perfume filled the room. The sound of laughter and chatter filled my ears.
Despite the excitement surrounding me, I couldn't help but feel a sense of loneliness and isolation. It was as if I was the only one in the room, and no one noticed my presence. I tried to fit in, but it seemed like everyone was in their bubbles.
I felt like a fish out of water, wishing I could go home and curl up with my favorite show. But I knew I couldn't give up that easily. So I took matters into my own hands. I make my way to the bar counter.
Now seated and uninterested, the bartender approached me with a smile. To my surprise, it was my classmate, Diluc. He was the quiet, intelligent redhead from our class with whom I had little interaction before. Despite previously coming to my aid once, we haven't really spoken.
"Diluc, what are you doing here?" I asked, surprised to see him behind the bar. He chuckled and replied,
"If it were for Austin, how could I be here?"
I chuckled. "It looks like you are stuck bartending."
Diluc laughed and nodded, saying, "Yeah, you could say that. Austin needed extra help for the night, and I figured, why not give it a shot? Plus, I needed some extra cash." I smiled at him, happy to see him stepping out of his comfort zone and trying something new.
"Well, you look like a natural behind the bar," I said, gesturing to the drinks he was expertly mixing.
Diluc grinned and said, "Thanks; I've been watching Austin do it for a while now. It's not so bad once you get the hang of it. "Although I didn't expect a person like you would come to a party," Diluc chuckled. "But you seem like the type to stay home and read a book or something."
"My friends are somewhere around here; They ditched me," I said with a shrug.
" Well, that sucks. Anyway, can I get you a drink? It's in the house." I smiled gratefully at Diluc and nodded.
"Sure, I'll take a beer," I said. As Diluc turned to grab my drink, I scanned the room for any familiar faces. It was a packed house, and I couldn't see anyone I knew. I sipped my beer, feeling a little out of place but enjoying the buzz of excitement that surrounded me. It was nice to let loose and have a little fun for a change.
As I took another sip, I noticed a guy staring at me across the room. He was tall and had a rugged look with a chiseled jawline and piercing blue eyes. Despite my attempts to ignore him, I sensed his gaze fixed on me. I squirmed in my chair and averted my eyes, hoping he would pick up on the hint. However, when I peeked back a few seconds later, he was still staring. He eventually approached me and sat down next to me. With a charming smile, he greeted me.
"Hello, gorgeous!" He greeted. Isn't this just some stranger attempting to flirt with me? Well, isn't that just the perfect meet-cute? A charming stranger that can't take his eyes off you, can he? Maybe he thinks you're his next victim-I mean, girlfriend. I sneered at the thought.
