One chapter after another yea!

At lunch, I arrived at the location to meet the person who sent me a cryptic note at noon.

There was a large oak tree at the back of the school with a small enclosed bench beneath its vast branches. As I approached, my heart raced with anticipation, wondering who could want to meet me there.

"You're here," a voice spoke from behind the tree, causing me to jump in surprise. It surprised me to see a familiar face I never thought I'd see again.

"Xiao?" I sputtered, taken aback by Xiao's presence. The sudden appearance of Xiao here sent shockwaves through me.

After months of not seeing each other, memories of that night came flooding back. Xiao was more than a mere acquaintance. I tried to gather my thoughts and make sense of why he had sought me out after all this time. His piercing gaze seemed to penetrate through my soul, making me feel vulnerable. Something had changed in him-something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

As Xiao took a slow drag from his cigarette, the aromatic smell of smoke mixed with the subtle scent of wet soil. The sound of distant laughter from the schoolyard drifted towards us, contrasting with the heavy silence between us.

"Isn't it quite ironic the way you left me that day?" he uttered, breaking the lingering silence. The bitterness in his voice sent a chill down my spine. I hesitated for a moment, gathering my thoughts, before responding with a mix of anger and vulnerability, "Well, it's the way you ignored me like I didn't exist. Like I was another plaything to you."

"That's true, but don't get the wrong idea; I wasn't all that interested in you," he admitted, taking a long drag from his cigarette. The words stung, but I refused to let him see how deeply they cut. Instead, I mustered up a smirk and responded, "Funny how easily you discard playthings when they challenge your ego."

"Who are you to talk to me like that?" he belittled, his smile fading. "I was just being honest with you. You were never anything special to me."

"Then what's your reason to call me there?" I shot back, crossing my arms. "If I meant so little to you, then why did you bother reaching out to me today? Don't tell me it was just another meaningless game to stroke your ego. I deserve an honest answer."

He paused, his expression shifting from arrogance to a hint of vulnerability. "Maybe... maybe I wanted to see if you still cared," he admitted, his voice softer now. "I wanted to know if I still had any power over you and if I could still affect you. But now, seeing your defiance and your refusal to play along, I realize maybe I was mistaken about you." His words hung in the air, a mixture of regret and uncertainty.

Xiao's face became tense, and he sneered, curling his lips in a mocking expression. "You always were a pathetic weakling," he spat, his voice dripping with disdain. "I can see now that I was right to leave you. You're nothing but a waste of my time." His words stung, hitting me like a punch to the gut.

"I will be straight with you; although we slept together, I have nothing to do with you," he said, a hint of regret lingering in his voice. "You were just a momentary distraction, and now I have no interest in being associated with someone like you. Don't delude yourself into thinking this meant something." His words cut deep, but instead of breaking down, a surge of anger rushed through me. My baby's father just rejected me, and he doesn't even know I am pregnant.

I clenched my fists, determined to prove him wrong. How dare he dismiss me so viciously? How could I have been so blind to his true intentions? I had allowed myself to believe that there could be something more between us. But now, standing here with his hurtful words echoing in my mind, reality has crashed down on me like a tidal wave.
