Abhi - Vetri : Vol 2

South meets North - 1

This series is inspired by a scene from the Tamil movie titled 'Vaanavil'.

When I saw Pavi's latest photo in Rajasthani costume 😍 I remembered this scene so I thought of writing one for our Abhi-Vetri in my unique style.

For those who have not watched the movie, here's a synopsis of the scene:

Arjun, who is an IAS aspirant, goes to a remote village in North India. There he saves a local girl from fire. Since he touched her, the villagers declare her impure and that the one who touched her should marry her or she should spend the rest of her life as a single serving the goddess. Arjun is reluctant at first but agrees to accept the verdict and marry her however the girl refuses and decides to spend her entire life in the temple as an ascetic.

Vetrichelvan has his own mechanic shed which is managed by himself and his gang. He is also Poongavanam's henchman.

Though Aranganathan is unhappy with Vetri's lifestyle, he and Kamalamma wish to complete their parental duties so they decide to get him married. When they discuss with Vetri, he refuses firmly showing his disinterest in marriage. Nonetheless his parents carry on with the bride hunt unknown to him.

Poongavanam needs Vetri to go to Rajasthan on an assignment. Vetri agrees. Kamalamma is unhappy about Vetri going however Vetri coaxes her by promising to obey her if she let him go this time. Kamalamma accepts the deal because her idea was to use Vetri's promise to get him to agree for marriage.

Pei accompanies Vetri. They leave for Rajasthan.

Upon arrival into Jaipur, Vetri and Pei take a local auto to their lodge where Poongavanam had arranged for their stay.

P: Ooru pudhusaa irukkula'ne.... idhuvaraikkum naama varaadha edam....

V: Mmm...amaa....

P: Ponnungalaam colour colour paavadai'la amsama irukkaangala'ne...

Vetri glared at him. Pei got his answer. They checked into their room. Vetri went to shower first. Later Pei went. After having some light refreshments, they asked a local for directions to their next destination. Based on the local guy's guidance, the guys boarded a truck and set off to the nearby village that was the place of Vetri's to-be wife. ❤️😉

It was an hour-long journey from Jaipur. Pei and Vetri were travelling through the deserted road. The scorching sun and dryness around made them uneasy.

P: Enna'ne...indha ooru ippadi irukku? Namma ooru veyil'eh thaanga mudiyaadhu idhu pala madangu irukkum polaiye inga irukkuravanga rombha paavamle....

V: Amaa'da...enakke idhellam paarkumbodhu kashtama irukku oru potti kadai kooda illai aathram avasarathukku ennadhan pannuvangalo...

They alighted at a spot and the driver gestured them to follow a path to get to their destination. Thanking him, Vetri and Pei started walking.

P: Nalla vela'ne unakku konjam Hindi theriyum adhanala pozhaichom...naan mattum thaniya vandhirundheyn adutha flight pudicchu namma oorukke thirumbi poyirppeyn'ne....

Vetri smiled.

V: College padikkumbodhu kathukitteyn anaa pecchu thunaikku yaarumillama ponadhala touch vittu pocchu....edho konjam samalippen...
