The rest of the week was much the same: texting Donnie during class, practicing hard long after the other girls had left the basketball court, then taking a shower and sleeping a full 8 hours minimum. You had it down to a science at this point.

It surprised you how willing to text you Donnie was—it mostly consisted of making fun of each other with subtle and blatant flirting. It was never boring, and you found yourself actually looking forward to the weekend so you could see him. Purely for the physical intimacy—though the homework assistance was good too.

So when Saturday came, you threw your homework and laptop into your school bag, then made sure your phone, wallet, and keys were on your person before you left. But before you could, Layla woke up. "Where are you going?"

"Going to hang out with my new friends," you replied as you opened the door.

"I could come with you!" she offered, nearly falling out of her bed in an attempt to stand.

"Nah, you're still half-asleep," you said, smiling at her. She really liked being around you, but as far as you knew, she didn't really have any other besties.

"I'll wake up!"

"Not today. But I'll let them know you're interested in visiting." You shut the door after you, trying to end the conversation before she pried more. It wasn't your call whether she got to know their secret or not.

Your phone buzzed as you were making your way to your favorite sandwich shoppe. It was a cornerstore labeled 'the best sandwiches in Queens', and you were inclined to agree—and not just because the owner Mr. Delmar had an adorable cat.

DONNIE🐈: Are you coming over?

YOU🐕: Yeah

You swayed slowly as you scanned the menu of the deli, debating in your mind for a moment. After some thought, you decided it cost nothing to be kind. Well, actually in this case it cost about 7 bucks, but that just made the sentiment sweeter.

YOU🐕: What's your favorite sandwich? I'm swinging by this cute sandwich place before I head over

DONNIE🐈: A toasted avocado baco-bagel-rito with cheese.

Wow that sounded pompous, but did you really expect anything else from him? Seeing as you'd never even heard of such a concoction, you went with the closest thing you could find on the menu. You ordered the two sandwiches, paid, then leaned against the wall as you waited for them to prepare the food.

DONNIE🐈: My brothers are gone so we're alone.

You rose a brow.

YOU🐕: Convenient.

DONNIE🐈: Hardly. They wanted Run of the Mill pizza, and that takes them approximately 2 hours, assuming they don't get distracted and take an additional hour to return. Considering the temperature outside, they may decide to swing by the community basketball court and play, in which case they'll take a couple more hours (2-4) before returning home.

YOU🐕: You really set this up perfectly just so we can get some time alone to fuck

YOU🐕: Admirable

YOU🐕: Or sad. But I gotta respect it :)

Your order was ready, so you snagged the bag before heading toward the sewers. You went to the same sewer cover that you met Leo at last week, struggled with the cover for a minute, then followed the path to the lair. It was oddly silent, but that meant Donnie was right about the two of you being alone.

You spotted the turtle immediately, leaning against the door to his lab with a bored expression and crossed arms. He was already dressed in only his purple mask, battleshell, and black shorts, but he wasn't excited for this or anything.
