It was Saturday 1pm when Avika's phone rang, and she looked at the screen which flashed 'Rooh' her best friend Roohi.
She answered the call keeping it on speaker while going through some files in her office's chamber. "Avika, I DID IT" Roohi screamed at the end from the other side while a smile appeared on her face, and she kept her works aside giving her attention to Roohi.
"Congratulations" she answered being genuinely happy for her. She had seen her studying day and night for months to prepare for her Bar council exam and finally she had done it. Avika couldn't speak about what she felt and how much she was proud of her, but she had her own ways of expressing her love.
"Meet me at 4 pm Roohi" she said ending the call and looked at the clock. It was already past lunch which she had skipped as always. Getting up from the chair she took her car keys and bag to move out. Instead of using elevators she preferred using stairs sometimes and went downstairs.
The building echoed with the sound of her heels and the employees started moving around in a rush. She never fired an employee for being late or unprofessional in their WorkLife, but the record of employees was erased from the history of 'Insight Raghuvanshi Publications'. No body ever got the idea or a single clue of this because Avika made sure to vanish that person's identity. Maybe this was one of the reasons why Insight Publications was the top leading publication agency of the country within two years and inspired youth in this field. This always attracted the investors and other new emerging agencies to collab with the IRP.
Avika exited the building going towards the parking area and settled in her car. Starting the engine, she drove towards her penthouse which was an hour away from the building.
Her phone rang and the Abhimaan's name flashed in it. She had ignored his calls since morning neither replied to his texts. Sighing in defeat she answered the call connecting it with car's Bluetooth.
"It's been a week of me asking you to come home, but I think you aren't getting it" He questioned coming straight to the point. Avika didn't answer for 2 minutes, keeping her gaze focused on the road she increased the speed and took a next turn towards her Penthouse.
"Are You even listening to me?" He asked aggressively from the other side.
Avika had been ignoring him from last month when he openly announced about her marriage in an event without her consent. She was bubbling with anger since that day and ignored his calls.
"Fine. I called to let you know that I have found a potential groom for you" he said ending the call which made Avika stop the car with a jerk. Her knuckles turned white, and grip tightened on the steering wheel. She took deep breathes to calm the anger running in her veins and started the engine again.
Reaching at the Penthouse, she parked the car and got out shutting the door with a thud. Taking two steps at once she stepped inside and threw her bag and keys on the floor. Running her hands in hair she went inside the kitchen and drank a glass of water to calm herself which didn't help an ounce.
Her eyes travelled towards the picture hanging at the wall of her baby sister and Her's when she was 8 years old holding her sister whom she had lost years ago...
Her feet's wobbled when she took slow steps forward and touched it with her hand in the thought of feeling her sister through the picture. She didn't know she was crying until a tear felled on her hand and she didn't care to wipe it. She turned back and went inside her room to take a cold shower which would make her calm and bring her senses back.

They were at their usual club, where Roohi often called her to hang out after a tough day. Grabbing Avika's arm, she pulled her in the corner sensing something off.
"Is it Your Dad again?" Roohi asked looking at her
Avika didn't want to speak on that topic, so she lied saying it was about her office and tough day at work.
"You can't lie to me. Spill it" she said in a stern voice.
"He called and asked me to come back home, and I denied" She voiced out a little making sure Roohi believes it which she certainly did and didn't ask any questions.
They went back to the crowd and Roohi started vibing with the songs playing while Avika just stood at the corner holding a soft drink in her hand. She avoided drinks when she was with Roohi because One need to sober to drive.
She felt someone staring at her which made her turn back only to find Roohi flirting with bartender. She sensed him. Although he was hidden in the crowd between the people, but that smell didn't go unnoticed by her.
She rushed towards Roohi to stop her flirting with a man who was thrice of her age and was openly gawking at her. This was the reason why she preferred staying sober.
"We are leaving" she said gritting her teeth in Roohi's ear and pulled her arm.
"Noo. Let me enjoy at least" Roohi said wiggling and trying to free herself but Avika tightened her grip and exited the club.
Dropping Roohi at her apartment, she drove back to her penthouse and reached in 1 hour. Sleep was nowhere in her eyes so she spends her night twisting and turning in the bed.
