Chapter 11: Because of You

Glitch woke up in a grass field, holding the Gem of Outcome in his hand.It appeared to have lost its power, as he couldn't absorb it and go back into Herrscher of Revolution mode.And when he reached for Ego's Hope and Caliburn, he found that they were merely just keychain attachments.The Devil Bracer was back on his arm, but taking it off would reveal that he...didn't have a right arm anymore.His Devil Bringer had disappeared...but his Electrokinesis was still fully functional and working.He got up and looked around to find that he was surrounded by white ruins which had overgrown vines all over them.But his gaze soon turned to a beam of sunlight and vines leading towards where a familiar face was...It was Epoina, praying like nothing had ever happened.Glitch tried to talk to Eponia about what had just occurred, but Tyler's voice chimed from behind him.

"That's not gonna work, no one can interact with her while she's meditating."

"Oh thank GOD someone's still around! Did your Herrscher core power down as well?"

Tyler looked at him in confusion before Eponia opened her eyes and looked at Glitch with a welcoming smile.

"I knew this day would come...welcome back Cake."

Glitch jumped back when he heard her say his real name.He never actually brought up his name in any of the conversations he had with her, and he was sure that he never even said his name out loud.

"Don't be scared, I know everything about your skirmish with Corruptance."

"You and Elysia managed to break the Elysian Realm with that final shot, which forced it to factory reset."

He gave her a blank look before she sighed and gestured to him to get closer and sit down.Tyler was watching him like a hawk which made him a little uncomfortable but he guessed that this would be the case.After sitting down beside her, she offered him some tea to drink while she explained everything to him.

"I guessed you have learned by now, but in case you haven't, then the Elysian Realm wasn't really...real."

"It was made from 1's and 0's, code on a terminal residing within the moon."

"Designed to keep the memories of humanity in tact and display them in a virtual reality so those who survived the constant Honkai attacks could learn the knowledge of the previous eras."

"Elysia eventually became self-aware and spread this knowledge to the other Flame Chasers, giving their artificial spirits sentience."

She paused for a moment before taking a deep breath and continuing.

"But because of the overload of information and code, the Herrscher of Corruption was formed from the broken glitches and eventually also gained sentience."

"The virus based itself around Elysia as an attempt to learn more about the Flame Chasers, learning that Kevin had a wife and creating Mei for him, Giving me a student that would pass along my legacy, and giving elysia someone to love."

"However this code was soon destroyed, with Mei gaining sentience and the simulation starting to simulate the impossible...including rifts in time and space."

"This was where Tyler was dropped in, and Corruptance got excited because of what she caused."
