"he works way too much now." hisano lets out a heaved sigh before taking ahold of her drink, ranting to her friend aeri.
she laughs at hisano's expression, "didn't you say you both wanted do get a part time job after graduation?" aeri asked with a mouthful.
they were at their favourite jokbal restaurant to drink, eating dinner after their shifts ended.
"yes, but he keeps on telling me not to work a lot because he'll help the both of us." she scoffed, "he's acting like we're in our mid 30's with two kids."
aeri almost choked on her food when she heard hisano's last comment, "hisa!" she shut her eyes to contain her laughter, covering her mouth as well.
"what? it's true! we barely even have time to see each other because of his job... so, i don't get the harm in me getting more shifts. heck, or even a better job." she rolls her eyes at the thought of jungwon, "his birthday already passed and i only spent barely an hour with him, on the phone!"
the girl's frustration was showing throughout her whole body. she couldn't sit still, flaunting her arms like a maniac.
aeri listened to her patiently, letting the girl release the built up rage she's been holding in during the past few months now.
"have you talked to him more seriously about it?" aeri then asked, which calmed the other down as she thought about it.
"well... yeah! of course i did. but, even though he always said he'd tone it down a bit, he's seriously still a workaholic." hisa grunted, crossing her arms slowly as a pout made its way onto her lips.
"i'll talk to him tomorrow though. if he even has the time." she grumbled the last part; pettiness was showing in her voice.
aeri leaned over the table to get a reach of the top if her head, ruffling her hair as a way of teasing the girl, "alright, you do that." she quickly sat back down with a grin, "talk to him, and if he doesn't try hearing you out, i'll smack him in the head. got it?" she smiled.
a soft smile made its way onto hisano's face, "got it!" she giggled.
and so, she waited patiently for the next day to arrive.
she had just dropped her books onto their usual library table where they would meet up from time to time whenever they ever had the same breaks.
"you seem a little grumpy." jungwon chuckled, taking the straw of his drink into his mouth as he took a long sip.
she plopped down on her seat and immediately looked at him with a hard to read expression. she had a straight face on but her eyes had a strong look of annoyance.
he stared back, not knowing whether he should laugh, or be scared.
she then pulled something out from behind her back, tossing it in front of him before she began doing her schoolwork.
"happy birthday." she muttered half-heartedly.
he stared at the small box. it had a ribbon around it, and it was beautifully wrapped, giving him the impression of it being jewelry.
