I go home, sit down on my bed and text Caleb.
---------------------------------------------
To Caleb: Where r u?
From Caleb: Driving home x
---------------------------------------------
I didn't want to text him while driving so I lay my phone on my bedside table and slump in my bed, staring at the ceiling.
--------------------------------------------
Bzzz bzzz bzzz
My phone was vibrating like crazy! I answered the call.
My heart breaks. I hear that same groggy voice from the hospital. I know that voice. It's Caleb.
"SOS..." He half cries half mumbles.
Oh.
My.
God.
I leap out of bed with my phone and run down to my car. The least of my worries right now is I'm driving with no shoes. I hit full power, the tyres screech and I race off into the night: speed limits are not an option.
I ring Caleb's cell phone again.
"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!!" I scream. I'm crying already. That waterfall is crashing harder than ever.
I spot him near a fuelling station about two miles from his house. He's lying on the floor, phone in hand. It says 'Han' with a heart at the end. I start crying again. But I cry harder when I see his limp body. He has a gash on the side of his face, forehead bruised, arms and legs swollen, cut and scraped. There's a pool of blood around him. I try to stay calm as I call 911 but it doesn't last very long. I practically scream into the phone.
"Caven Gardens fuelling station!! Quick he's bleeding. I think...just come now!!!!!!!" I yell and sob beside his body. He's still breathing but, barely.
A few minutes later, there's a huge crowd, two ambulances and a police car by the fuelling station.
They lay his shaking body on a kind of stretcher thingy and lift him up to carry him into the van.
I start to run with him but the paramedic stops me in my tracks and says I can't go in with him due to infection purposes.
I scream at the top of my voice until my lungs feel like a prune, my knees buckle and I fall to the ground, head throbbing like hell, heart aching and eyes red and sore.
I can't take it any longer.
And everything goes black...
