Steve knew that he had caused Eddie pain and wanted to make things right. He gathered the courage to approach Eddie and tell him how sorry he actually was for what he had done to Eddie.

He disclosed that he had developed true feelings for him, and at first it was ment to be a stupid joke between his friends but after spending time with Eddie and getting to know him he had honestly forgot about the bet and he genuinely cares about Eddie.

Despite this, he could sense that Steve was genuine in his apology and realized that he deserved another chance. He knew that forgiveness is not easy, but he realized that holding onto the pain could weigh him down forever.
After a moment of reflection, Eddie decided to forgive Steve. He understood that everyone makes mistakes, and he didn't want to be the one to hold a grudge. Eddie's compassionate nature prevailed, and he offered Steve another chance to make things right between them but both knew that trust needed to be be rebuilt between them before anything relationship wise could happen.
