Five years later
"Gio, we are ready for you!" My manager rushed me on set of Kim Daniel. This interview was one of many, my movie promotion was going well and I would be expected on another red carpet tonight.
"We have a special guest here today, Beom Giovanna, award-winning actress, former idol, will join us today for an exclusive interview right before the premiere of her next movie."
I sat down, crossed my legs elegantly, my black stilletto's shining in the stagelight. My black Chanel dress was skin-tight but made me feel comfortable.
After a while of casual chatting and promoting my movie, the subject drifted back to the past. It always did.
"Zerobaseone, the good old days," I sighed as I reflected back on that era with a big nostalgic smile. Thinking about my former members made my heart sing. I was so proud of how far they had come.
Two and a half years had gone by so fast. It had been over in the blink of an eye—a sudden passing. Now, five years after our disbandment, it still felt like a fever dream. Those days, were too intense to process, even now.
Hanbin and Allison got married last summer. All of the former members, besides Bongcha, were present for the festivities. While Hanbin remained in the industry with his new K-pop group, breaking records left and right, Allison remained in the entertainment industry. Lately, she was one of the four judges of Legend of Masked Singer, among many of her other projects.
Choonhae and Yujin broke up after over five years of dating, but they remain close friends. And I was one of the many who still believed they would one day find their way back to each other. Both have re-debuted with other popular K-pop groups.
All the other members, such as Ricky, Gyuvin, Ara, Briar, and Jisoo have re-debuted. A lot of them found success again. I still saw Ara and Briar every other week for girl's night.
Nina moved back to the States, where she is now a big name in the industry. Her single came in at number one on the Billboard charts.
Billie and Zhang Hao are still together, but in true Billie and Hao fashion, they keep things on the down low while writing and composing songs for each other that got many awards. Yet, the media didn't know they were together, and neither did the Netizens. I was still waiting on that announcement.
And as for Gunwook and I, well.... I stared behind my manager to the backstage where he was waiting patiently for the end of the interview. His eyes were beaming.
They say true love is found in the places you least expect it.
For me, true love had been Zerobaseone.
For me, true love was meeting my beautiful members, a family for life. Every few months we saw each other again and will remain to do so for the remainder of our days.
For me, true love, now also had a face, a face of a boy I once pushed away as far as I could. A boy who saw me before I ever truly saw myself.
The engagement ring on my finger gleamed as bright as our collective future. I guess it has always been written in those stars—him and I, shooting through the galaxy of fame together.
