It was late at night, and I had been lured to the studio by Hao, through a cryptic text message. I had seen him at dinner. Once again, we had been at Dom Chow's, yet he had not said anything then. So I did wonder what this was about.
I opened the studio door, expecting also to see Hui there, but only Hao sat at the producer's desk. His long legs were crossed, and he was wearing a dark suit he hadn't been wearing earlier.
"Hao, what is going on?" I said with a big smile. "Why are you dressed up like that?"
My eyes were drawn to a table, where our oversized grey couch used to be, was now a small white table with two white chairs. A porcelain vase on the table held a single blue rose, the signature of our fandom. It had a deeper meaning for us. It would always have.
"Champagne for milady," Hao drawled as he handed me a flute of champagne.
"What are we celebrating?" I said, my voice a sultry whisper. The tension was palpable. Something was shifting in the atmosphere.
"My new song for the new album, Princess," Hao replied as I sat down. He remained standing against the desk, champagne flute in his palms.
"And I have the honor to listen to it first?"
"Well, you and Hui, of course. He approved of the... lyrics."
Well, obviously...being our producer and all.
"It must be something special if you set everything up like this."
"It is," Hao replied solemnly.
I expected him to push a few buttons and hit play, but instead, he reached under the desk and dragged his violin from the depths. Something got caught in my throat as I watched him prepare for his performance. He seemed nervous, and it looked hella cute.
The violin's sound filled the air, its melancholic melody weaving into my heart. I stood in the dimly lit room, transfixed by the emotions that poured forth from each note. Hao didn't sing. He let the notes speak. I understood then what he meant with the approval of the lyrics. He was pouring his soul into the strings of his favorite instrument.
For me.
As the music swelled, I couldn't help but be moved by its beauty. The room seemed to fade away, and all that remained was the sound of his violin and the intensity of his gaze. With each stroke of the bow, I could feel his love reaching out to me, transcending words and filling the space between us.
At that moment, I knew that his composition was not just a piece of music but a declaration of his love. The depth of his feelings resonated within me, stirring a whirlwind of emotions that I had long kept hidden. His music spoke to the depths of my soul, unraveling the barriers I had built around my heart.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I watched him play, his fingers dancing effortlessly across the strings. The music reflected our journey, the highs, and lows, the moments of joy and pain we shared together. It was a testament to our connection, an unspoken language we could only understand.
As the final notes hung in the air, he lowered the violin, his teary eyes never leaving mine. The room was filled with silence, heavy with anticipation. And then, in a whisper, he spoke the words my heart had longed to hear.
"Billie, this piece... it's for you," he said, his voice filled with vulnerability and love. "Through every note, I wanted you to know that you are my muse, my inspiration, and I want to spend the rest of my life near you."
His words washed over me, leaving me breathless and speechless. The weight of his feelings enveloped me, and I could no longer deny the truth lingering in my heart. Hao had captured not just the beauty of the music but the essence of our connection, and I knew then that I had found my soulmate.
Tears streamed down my face as I stepped towards him, my heart brimming with overwhelming love. Without uttering a single word, I threw my arms around him, pulling him into a tight embrace. In that embrace, I found peace and a profound sense of belonging.
"Hao," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. "Your music,..this piece... it's the most beautiful gift I could ever receive. What's it called?"
He held me tighter, his arms wrapped protectively around me. "The song is called Gonjunim."
Princess.
Me.
He had written a song for me. The most beautiful one I have ever heard
Hao continued. "You've inspired me to compose melodies I never thought possible."
We stood there, lost in each other's arms, our love flowing between us like a melody that would never fade away. All the doubts and fears melted, replaced by a sense of belonging. In his arms, I was home.
"I want to be by your side, Princess, through every note of our lives," Zhang Hao said, his voice filled with determination. "Through every annoying, bratty minute of you, princess. You."
I snorted between my tears, hugging him tighter.
"And I love you too, silly," I replied, my voice filled with unwavering devotion.
As our lips met in a tender kiss, the music of our hearts merged, creating a symphony of love that resonated throughout the room. We had found something extraordinary in each other, a love that defied boundaries and surpassed all expectations.
From that moment on, we embarked on a new chapter of our lives, entwined in a passion that grew stronger each day. Hao's melodies became the soundtrack of our journey, a constant reminder of the depth of our love and the beauty we had found in each other.
We drew strength from our love and the music that bound us. Our symphony would continue to evolve, filled with sweet harmonies and passionate crescendos, as we built a future together filled with endless possibilities.
In Zhang Hao's violin piece, he had not just declared his love for me; he had gifted me a lifetime of melodies, a symphony of love that would endure the test of time.
And as we stood there, immersed in the beauty of that moment, I knew in the depths of my soul that our love was destined to create a masterpiece that would echo through the years to come.
