Meira's POV
We left the office and headed toward the auditorium. We already knew where it was since we came across it earlier with Miss Alma. It was quite far from the Headmaster's office.
"Are you interested in joining the Elite Ten council?" Al asked me.
"No, how about you?" I asked him back.
"You know that I can't right? If I joined the Elite Ten Council, I can't protect you as much as I am now." He worriedly said. I placed my hand on his shoulder to reassure him.
"You know... You might be able to defend me from other people but when it comes to the Royals, you can't protect me if they suddenly attack me. You don't lack in power since I believe you can defeat them, I'm talking about your status. You're just a son of a duke compared to them." I explained. He silently listened as we walked down the hallway.
Status is everything in this world. One wrong move and your fate is already sealed.
"If you joined the student council you can protect me from the Royals. You have a position in the Elite Ten Council, you can even punish them as a council member as long as you have the permission of the council president." I further explained. He looked focused as he was thinking of what he should do.
I wanted him to join the Elite Ten Council not to only protect me but I can also to benefit from it by having a little more space if he got busy doing some council duties.
"Wouldn't it be better if we both join the council? Fine, I'll see what I can do," Al surrendered. I wouldn't agree with the first sentence he said but I am certainly excited because he is considering it.
We shortly arrived at the auditorium backstage where everyone was busy. We saw Miss Alma carrying some papers and when she saw us, she walked in our direction.
"Your Highness, you're just in time. Everyone is waiting for you on the stage." She said. Miss Alma guided us towards the stairs when we walked out from behind the curtains I first noticed a lot of students in the auditorium.
It was huge and grand. Makes my spine shiver because there are so many people watching me. Then I noticed...
The Royals?!
I was stunned that the other 8 Royals were there. They were looking at me, menacingly. All of them look like different species of humans. Even so, their stares made me so nervous. Their eyes are like daggers...
We walked towards the last chair on the other end of the auditorium. Inside my head is me ranting about why my chair has to be on the other end. The silence and the number of stares overwhelm me, the sound we make as we walk on the wooden floor of the stage is covering the whole auditorium.
I didn't make any eye contact with the other Royals. I keep repeating in my head to 'not look at them.'
I sat on my designated chair as Al stood right beside me. I looked at the crowd and so many of them were... Looking at me. It can't be helped.
It made me uncomfortable so I looked away. Unintentionally, my eyes landed on the chair beside me. Then there I saw...
Prince Zachariah!
I tensed up and my heart beat faster. But I must maintain my composure as many people are looking at me. Are you kidding me?! He also attends this Academy and is sitting right next to me! Lady luck isn't by my side right now.
I don't want to see him especially right now. I remembered how he left me in the tent alone in the middle of the forest. Just thinking about it makes me upset.
