Behind the Smile

From crawling to walking, to running, to fall,
I've stood up from the shallows to live it all.
I've flown so high and have swum so deep,
Plenty of reasons to smile and various to weep.

This roller coaster takes me low and high,
But that's what we call the fun of life.
You live it up or sink into the lows,
'Tis a journey, that's how it goes.

Getting selfless love, it's a selfish need,
Now charged, love, 'tis addiction, I greed.
It's a debt, I'm honoured, payable in kind,
As respect, as my success, I see it, I'm not blind.

From roaring aloud to weeping alone,
I've grown up already, you might just know.
Tear tanks don't exist, I know they're created,
Fresh out of emotions, now aren't tantrums, I just elaborated.

From trembling recklessly, I've fallen off from plenty of hearts,
I'm taking back my space, I'm aiming fine my darts.
I'm fighting for my place, since birth it's my alone,
Is marked 'MINE' till I die, yet I fear it will be gone.

The most I've seen to growing up soon,
Standing here, it's so shallow, it's not a boon.
An age, or maybe a striking wild night,
I suddenly grew up to somehow face the losing fight.

Bloodshed, a loss, a few deaths or not,
A moment, an indication to grow up all might have got.
A deadline, a defeat, and silent treatments all gotta meet,
It's a phase, a bit longer, maybe shorter, to be cleared and neat.

In this journey, I bleed, my injuries do hurt,
But to walk barefoot is more painful when you've fallen low in the dirt.
In hollow darkness, there are yet mirrors all around,
Reflecting on me as pathetic, burying me deep, I cannot be found.

Yet to wake up every day, to smile and live,
This is life, this is fate, this takes and someday will be pleased to give.
Sometimes it's sooner, but its giveaway can be late,
It's everlasting, keep moving, it's senseless to stand and wait.
