Y/n's pov:
Your heart was still down by your knees. The word had blurted out your mouth before you knew it and the realization came a little bit too late. Now you were eating while avoiding eye contact with Dami. Siyeon was telling you a story but you were barely able to listen.
"I fucked up. She will for sure break up with me now. How could I be so stupid? It was the only thing she asked me to do and I fucked up." You thought as you looked at your empty plate.
Suddenly Siyeon pulled on your sleeve.
"You are not listening." The small girl pouted.
"I'm sorry. Please tell me again." You apologized as you smiled at her.
"Mommy doesn't like pineapple," Siyeon told you again.
"Is that true? You don't like it." You asked the woman at the other side of the table.
Dami just shook her head and grabbed the last piece of the salami pizza.
"Interesting. Can I ask you why?" You said.
"I almost died because one piece was stuck in my throat," Dami explained.
"So you have post-traumatic stress disorder from pineapple?" You chuckled and earned an annoyed look from your girlfriend.
"Yes," Dami simply replied.
Dami's pov:
It was embarrassing to tell Y/n about her past. If it was up to her she would like to forget everything. Especially the past five years. It was torture and thinking about it made her tear up but how could she forget when the permanent scars on her body reminded her of the abuse? About the pain and loneliness she had been through and all the nights she wasn't able to sleep because of it. Her husband was supposed to love her but he used her as a punching bag. She was treated like an object but now she was finally free and started to enjoy her life again and hopefully, Y/n will get a part of it for a long time.
"Well, I'm glad you survived." Y/n's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
She looks up just to see Y/n's charming smile.
"Me too," Dami replied.
After that Siyeon started to speak again and soon the room was filled with friendly chatter and loud laughs.
"I love how she treats Siyeon. She is good with children. Most of the time she looks so intimidating but the past few days she showed me her soft side and I hope she will show me more." Dami thought and got excited when she thought about a future with Y/n.
This was her second chance. This was the new beginning she dreamed of. Not just for her but also for Siyeon.
Later:
Y/n's pov:
It was already night and Dami snuggled her face into your chest. This would be the last night she would spend at your apartment because they will open the bridges tomorrow morning. The water level was slowly going down. Experts had said that the bridges were fine to cross over.
"I don't want you to go." You mumbled.
"I know but we can't stay longer. You already did so much for us and I will forever be grateful for that." Dami said as she looked up.
The city's light illuminated the otherwise dark room so you could see her pretty face. You reached out with your fingers and let them brush over her cheek.
"I will miss having you and Siyeon around." You admitted.
"It will not be forever," Dami replied and moved closer.
