Y/n's pov:

Your hand was massaging your temple as you looked at the pile of paperwork in front of you. The week was already stressful without the constant pain in your head. It had started four days ago and it seemed that the pain didn't want to go away.

"I don't want to know how many pills I swallowed the past days." You mumbled.

It was not a heavy headache and you could hide it but Dami sensed that something was wrong. Of course, she asked you if you were fine and you didn't want to lie to her. She knew that you were in pain and visited your office every other hour to check up on you. The pain was annoying and it started to spread in the left side of your head. A soft knock echoed through your big office and you knew it was Dami that wanted to check up on you again.

"Come in." You said and looked up just to see your girlfriend enter with something in her hands.

You recognized that she held a letter while she walked closer to you.

"This just arrived for you," Dami said and laid the envelope on the desk in front of you.

"A little late for mail, don't you think?" You chuckled.

"Yeah, I was surprised when the courier arrived this late in the afternoon." The secretary agreed.

You smiled softly at her and grabbed the letter. It was heavy and you wondered what was inside but your curiosity dropped when you noticed the handwriting. Of course, you immediately recognized it.

"Something wrong?" Dami asked as she noticed the plain expression on your face.

"No," You replied and threw the letter into the trash bin.

As if nothing happened you turned back to your paperwork just to hide the tears in your eyes.

"You don't want to open it? It seemed to be urgent." Dami seemed to be confused and fished the letter out of the bin again.

"I'm not interested in whatever that is." You explained pretending to work.

"But it's handwritten and probably important." Your girlfriend tried to reason with you.

"Can you just throw it in the trash? I don't want to be involved in this drama again." You snapped at Dami angrily.

Your eyes met and you noticed the surprise in them. Usually, you would never talk to her like that.

"I-I was j-just curious." Dami apologized and laid the letter back on your table.

Tears built in her eyes as she bowed a little before she turned around. You clenched your jaw in anger and watched her walk to the door well aware that you hurt her.

"Yubin, wait." You said pushing down the urge to cry.

You just felt so angry because of the audacity other people had but you didn't want to let it out on Dami. She didn't do anything wrong.

"Yes," Your girlfriend said and turned around.

"I was harsh to you. I didn't mean to. It's not your fault." You explained in a soft tone. "It just seems that my past wants to catch up with me."

"Your past?" Dami asked.

You nodded and pointed at the latter: "It's from my mother."

Dami's pov:

It was the first time Y/n mentioned her family and Dami realized why. They must've been horrible to the boss. At least Y/n's eyes showed that. She was angry and sad.

"Or should I say stepmom?" Y/n tried to smile but she failed.

"You have a stepmom?" Dami asked curiously.
