A few months later:

Y/n's pov:

You never thought you could be this happy. Everything was just perfect. The company did well in the past quartal and your girlfriend was still not fed up by you. At some point, you wondered how Dami could still want you but it seemed that she was happy too. At least most of the time. She had told you about the anxiety she still had and that there were still scars on her soul that would never heal. Of course, you felt sad that something so cruel happened to her but you would do everything to make her feel less scared and insecure about your relationship. Dami told you that she wanted to take it slow and you had agreed but there were still moments where she would keep her thoughts to herself to avoid a conflict. You even noticed that she sometimes flinched back when you did a swift movement with your arm and it hurt you every time. Something similar just happened and now your heart broke into tiny pieces as you looked at Dami's body which was slightly turned away from you and her hands that she had risen to protect her head.

"I am so sorry, baby." You apologized as you took a step back to give her some space.

Dami's hands shook as she hesitantly let them sink. Her eyes were still closed.

"I didn't mean to raise my hand so fast. I was just so angry at this new employee and I'm sorry that I yelled." You explained. "I shouldn't let out my anger when you are around."

A few moments passed and it was silent in the hallway. Dami seemed to calm down and opened her eyes. You regretted your actions. Dami still suffered from her past relationship and you just had triggered her anxiety. A few minutes ago you had walked up and down in front of Dami's desk to explain to her what bothered you. The new employee had fucked up something and now you would never get the chance to work with 'Twice Management'. The deal was off the table and it had made you so angry that you needed to let it all out and the only person you trusted right now was your girlfriend. Dami had listened to you and once you had raised your voice she had stood up to walk around her table to grab your hand. It was not your intention to pull your hand back so harshly but you did. At this point, Dami was already backing away from you and when you lifted your hand to push back the hair that had fallen in your face she let out a whimper and put her body in defense mode.

"It's okay," Dami assured you with a shaky voice once she was sure you wouldn't hurt her.

"No, it's not. I promise to be more careful in the future." You replied. "I will never hit you, you know that, right?"

For a long moment you looked into your eyes but you couldn't read her emotions. You just wanted her to feel safe.

"You don't have to believe me. I know it is hard to trust someone after the things you have been through. I just want you to know that I will never hurt you in any way." You added because the silence was unbearable.

"I believe you because I trust you, Y/n. I know you would never harm me. It was just my reflex." Dami assured you as she came closer and hugged you.

The smell of her perfume embraced you and you hesitantely wrapped your arms around her. You snuggled your face into the crook of her neck as she held you close.

"I promise I will make it up to you. Just tell me how and I will do it." You said.

"How about you take me out on a date this Friday evening?" Dami replied after a while.

You were surprised and pulled back. It was the first time she suggested to go out on a date. All the other times she had rejected your request. You were not mad about it because you knew that she wasn't ready.

"Are you sure?" You asked her full of excitement.

"I think we waited long enough." Your girlfriend replied as she caressed your cheek with her slender fingers.
