It's been two weeks and I'm getting good at this spidey-thing, I'm just not sure if I'm really ready. I've also made some improvements on my shooters so that I can shoot my webs in different ways.

I sit on the edge of my bed, my eyes fixed on the news broadcast playing on my laptop screen. The reporter's mouth stutters with a mix of fear and urgency as they describe the danger wreaked upon the city by a mysterious figure. Apparently they could control him for a while but then he lashed out again. The name "Steward Brown" is mentioned, a name that sends shivers down my spine (🎶heart is aching all the timeeeeee🎶). Isn't that the janitor at Neptune Labs? We've met when I signed up for my powers there. What has he become? This is so scary to watch. I need to stop him! No, I'm not ready yet!

Ethan hears me talking to myself and tries to give me courage. "You can do this Sarah! Just remember everything we trained!"

I start to cry a little. "But I'm not ready, Ethan. What if I fail? Can't the Avengers take care of it this time?" I haven't felt this insecure since years. I start to believe that I wasn't made for this job.

He takes a deep breath and explains. "No Sarah, the Avengers are on vacation because of the New York thing. And S.H.I.E.L.D needs too much time to get here. You need to take action, now! It's not like you have a choice. When you have powers like these you automatically use them to protect the ones who don't." He looks me in the eye. "Do you think the screaming kids, the mothers and fathers, the injured and the scared in this city give a fuck if you feel ready to save them? No, of course not. They need you Sarah, and so do I. The Avengers are counting on you to protect this world when they can't, that's why they chose you to be in their team. Do you seriously want to let them down and make them regret everything?

I am touched. I look down and bite my inner cheek, not sure how to answer this. "N-no."

He nods. "That's what I thought. Now get your sorry ass up and put the suit on."

I can no longer ignore the call to action. The time has come for me to embrace my destiny as Spidergirl, even if I feel unprepared. As I slip on my homemade Spidergirl suit, the weight of responsibility settles on my shoulders. I gather my katana, shuriken, and web shooters, ready to face the chaos unfolding in the city. I'm ready to jump out of the window and shoot my web as I hear a voice.

"And always remeber..."

It's Ethan again. I look behind me to hear what he is about to say.

"From great power...comes great responsibility."

That is exactly what I needed right now. "That's wise, thank you for these words", I say and get going.

"No problem Spidergirl."

Swinging through the night, I arrive at the heart of the mayhem. Buildings are ruined, smoke billows from shattered windows, and the sound of sirens is too loud to overhear. In the chaos, I spot Steward, a menacing figure wreathed in this green disgusting slime.

"Wow, he really did something here." I say to the policeman next to me.

He looks at me with hope. "Do you think you can help us here?"

"I hope so."

The slime comes near me, my senses heightened with a mixture of adrenaline and fear. I call out to Steward, my voice showing confidence I didn't entirely feel. "Steward, stop! This isn't the way. You don't have to do this." My spidey-senses start to tingle.

Steward turns to face me, his eyes glaze over with anger. "You fool, stay out of this. It's too late to save me. Just leave!"

"I can't, it is my job you know?"

He does not take me seriously. "Your job?Don't make laugh! Who do you even pretend to be in this silly costume? The great clown maybe?

"My name is Spidergirl and this is my suit."

He laughs at me and inhales to relax. "Wow, you really take yourself seriously, don't you? Well, I'm about to crush your self-esteem Spidergirl!"

"I don't want to fight you Steward, please turn back to the good side. There's still hope, Steward. I know the pain you've endured, but there's a way to break free from it."

He gets even angrier. His voice gets deeper and heavier. "You... you don't know ANYTHING YOU LITTLE SHIT! Hope? There's no hope for someone like me. I've become a monster, just like my father.

My pupils widen as my voice gets soft. If I had a tail, I would put it in already. He is so scary, but I can't forget what Ethan told me earlier.

I need to prove myself, but how?
