Song: Daylight by Harry Styles

Have you ever been in accident? I never had, I always thought it would be cool in a way. The adrenaline and all.

Yeah, that was stupid of me. There's absolutely nothing cool about this.

My entire body aches and my head, oh my head, it feels like it's minutes from exploding. I groan and move a little to the left to minimize the pain but a sharp sting on my arm springs me back to life.

"Oww!" I wince, adjusting to the light.

"I'm sorry Adonis. My mistake," mum apologizes. She looks as though she hasn't slept for ages and she's definitely been crying.

"Mum? What are you doing here? How long was I asleep?" I sit up properly. We're the only ones in the ward and judging from the skyline outside the window it's still night time.

"I don't know honey. It's 2AM now."

Or early morning.

"Is Jordan okay?"

"The girl you were with? Yes, she had no serious injury. They're taking her home tomorrow. She's just across you."

"I've got to speak to her-"

"Adonis stay put. You hit your head and you've got a broken arm."

Instinctively my eyes fall to my left arm and I try to stretch it, which results in unspeakable pain.

"I'm alive," I try to smile at her but she just glares at me.

"What were you thinking? Why would you drive at such speed? Were you drunk? And who is this girl anyways?"

"What? You think I was just driving like that for fun? We were being followed mum."

"By whom? Why would anyone follow you?"

"I don't know but they shot at both our tyres and I lost control-ahh, my head hurts!" I wince immediately at the pin like pain coursing through my nerves. Mum immediately places her hands on both my shoulders and places me down on the bed.

"Your father's having a word with the cops, once you're stable they'll talk to you too."

"Have you heard from Lee-"

"Just sleep Adonis!" She snaps at me. Her eyes are bloodshot and swollen and the way she looks at me tells me everything that is going through her head. How I almost died. Almost.

"I'm fine mum," I assure her. She rubs her hand over my head and wipes her eyes clean. Once she's positive that I won't get up she leaves me.

I don't want to get up, my entire body aches but I need to see Jordan before the cops or anyone else does for that matter. So I bite back the pain that threatens to blind me the moment I step foot on the ground and manage to stand up. I grab the drip and use it to stabilize my steps. The hallway's busy but no one seems to take note of a pale looking teenage boy coming out with his drip. Thankfully, Jordan's ward is just across mine so once I think my legs can handle it I just take two large steps and lean on the door so it opens. Benefits of being tall.

I'd thought of what I would say if Jordan wasn't alone. It would've been something like: hi there, I'm sorry I just want to see how she's doing.
Jordan would get the hint, unless she hates me and blames me for putting her life at risk. However there isn't anyone in the room.

Just Jordan.

Changing into her clothes.

"Fuck I'm sorry," I blurt, covering my eyes. She freezes, her hands hovering over the button of her jeans and I imagine that her eyes are wide as saucers.
