Song: October Passed Me By by girl in red
My phone is buzzing with people I hardly talk to asking me if Jordan and I are dating. I honestly don't get why there's so much hype about it, guys hug girls all the time at school. And who the hell snapped us? Is someone following me? Should I be worried?
"Adonis? What are you thinking about?" Nick snaps his fingers at my face.
"His girlfriend," Lee supplies immediately. I send a 100watts glare at him but he doesn't even see it because he's too busy with his phone.
"I got the names you wanted, Reyna also added some guys that Landon mentioned," Nick continues. We're in Kittie's tree house because Nick's place is scary at night, my parents would kill me if they knew I was attending meetings at night and Reyna is convinced her brothers do not need to be exposed to "crazy boys like us".
Speaking of Reyna, I turn to her and send her an amused look.
"So you beat up Declan eh?"
Her eyes snap up to meet mine and she shrugs. "He had it coming. It wasn't even a "beat up". I just slapped him a couple of times."
"You and Landon eh?" I continue.
"You're an idiot."
"You're not even in the position to speak seeing as there's a picture of you and a girl getting cozy after school on the net," Lee practically cries from his seat.
"You're just pained because you found out from the net," I laugh.
"So it is true?" He raises both brows at me.
"Of course not–"
"GUYS! The briefing?" Nick drags us back to what counts.
"Sorry about that. These guys, have you checked them?" I ask Nick.
"3 are clear. Only 4 left."
"OK. I've got news about the accident." I brief them about the bike and it's implications as well as Damien's revelation.
"This shit is confusing," Lee mutters.
"What do we do now?" Reyna asks.
"We can't do much about the accident, I think we should just focus on the guys," Nick replies.
"And maybe you should read that diary a bit faster," Lee glares at me.
"Back off," I wave him off.
"Why are you reading it from the back anyways?" Reyna asks.
"I'm not. I just read it. The dates aren't always there too."
"The torn pages? Where do you think we can find them?" Nick says.
"I think that's a lost cause. The diary was at school, Avery's locker is empty right now too. Even if they were there they'd be long gone by now."
"Or with someone." I point out. The tree house goes silent.
"Let's stay positive okay? I've got to go now, my brothers would realize I'm out by now," Reyna stand up.
"Is your mum with them?" Nick asks. I'm a bit surprised he knows Reyna's mum. She looks like she's about to strangle him because of it though.
"Yeah." She doesn't say anything else about that but she does wave us goodbye before climbing down.
"I should probably get going too," Nick says. We all shake hands and then he's gone. Lee stares at me from across the room.
"Aren't you going?"
"Wow, I feel so welcomed."
"If you're going you should just go with them ya know. People still get mugged, especially now that you're a celebrity."
"I'm sleeping over and grow up!" I throw a pillow at him. I get up and start climbing down too and he begrudgingly follows.
"She's been texting you too, what's happening on Friday Adonis?"
"She wants to go to a concert," I tell him. We make our way to the house through the back door.
"Jordan totally likes you," Lee declares as we get to the door.
"Give it a rest."
"I've been feeling tension from you guys. Like that day at the cafeteria, don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about," he warns me. I let out a loud groan.
"I don't remember the last time I thought of a girl Lee, I'm rusty. Besides I feel like I'm living the life when Avery's God knows where!"
We get inside his room and he silently closes the door. He pulls the extra mattress I use down and throws it at me but not before I get to see the look he's giving me.
"What?" I snap.
"What?" He fixes his face.
"You want to say something, get out with it," I demand. He throws me a bed sheet and covers.
"It's nothing."
"Lee Min-ho," I practically growl. I hate it when Lee does this.
"I'll tell you later, when I'm sure. Right now it'll just confuse you. Go to bed peach, rest your head. You need it." He walks past me and into the bathroom but not before ruffling my hair.
"Buzz off," I swat him aside. I finish the bedding and collapse at once on it. Lee was right, I did need it.
