A New Threat

The next morning you woke up early. It was around 10 AM. You made yourself some breakfast with Pixie at your feet the entire time. She was always patient with her breakfast. You got her some food. As you were eating you heard a heavy knock at your door. Wait what? You never had any visitors. You got your pocket knife just in case and answered the door.

"Can I help you?" You said as you opened the door slightly.

"Are you Y/n?" There was a man at the door. He was a bit taller than you. He had raven-black hair that was in a mullet style. He had a red beanie and a scar on his face, moving from his eye to his mouth. It seemed there was a golden tooth where the scar went. The man was wearing a white button-up and suspenders. He had a loosened red tie around his neck as well. The craziest thing about him though, was that he had a small pair of duck wings on his back. He was rather cute, but that's weird, right?

"Uhm, yes? Why?" You asked.

"Pleasure to meet you. I'm Quackity. May I come in?" The man asked. You thought you recognized the name, but you couldn't put your finger on it.

"No, we can talk out here. What do you need?" You didn't want to deal with this guy. He seemed annoying. And as of right now, he was.

"Fine. I thought this would be easier, but I guess not. I am Quackity from Las Nevadas-"

"You said that already. Get to the point." You said strictly. Your patience was thinning. This guy thought he was the shit but you weren't taking it.

"I know who you are, Y/n. I know that you have a dog named Pixie, I know you never joined in the war, I know you are loyal to no one. And I want you to join Las Nevadas, my nation."

After he said those words you were scared. How did he know about you? You never put yourself out there and stayed silent in every quarrel.

"How...?" You whispered.

"I have my ways." He grinned, showing off his golden tooth.

"Why do you want me in your nation?" You asked. You were genuinely curious, what did you have to offer to a nation?

"I know that you are a spy. You can stay in the shadows without one person knowing you were there. I need that."

"But I thought you 'had your ways' to spy on people." You stated.

"I need more 'ways'. And you seem more than capable."

"What do I get in return? I thought you knew I was loyal to no nation." You crossed your arms and leaned on the door frame. You didn't like this guy and he could pay you thousands of dollars but you would still decline.

"You would get some extra protection from other people I am close to, and some better living arrangements, and tools. Everything that you have right now, but better. And, if you don't join, something might happen to your beloved dog, Pixie."

After those words, you knew this guy was horrible. Why would he threaten your dog?

"Excuse me? Why the fuck would I join you after that?" You shouted. You started walking towards Quackity, you wanted to hurt this guy after he threatened your dog.

"Because if you didn't, then you would lose the only thing that was important to you. So, what do you say, Y/n? Care to join my lovely nation?" He said with a sickening smile. It seemed like he took pleasure in this.

What other choice do you have? Join a nation, or watch your puppy die?

"Fine. I'll join your pathetic-looking nation." You sighed.

"Good choice. Pack up, you got an hour." He said. "I'll be back later to escort you." He walked away after those words.

You closed your door and looked at Pixie. How could your whole life change after one conversation? You lived in this cottage for a very long time, and now you were moving into another building? You didn't even know where you were living.

You got your backpack and packed anything that had value to you. You got your favorite candles, books, and small trinkets. You packed lots of clothes shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. And any other important things.

You thought you would live in this cottage until your dying days. But now all of that changed, because of one man with duck wings. You were never the emotional type, but right now you wanted to cry. You never wanted to leave but no. You had to follow a man you've had one conversation with. Who does this Quackity guy think he is? He thinks he can just go up to anyone and threaten them until they join his pathetic nation. What a pussy. You had no respect for this guy now, not like you ever did.

After you shed a couple of tears you heard Quackity knocking at your door. You got Pixie and her food bowls and toys. She didn't know where you two were going, she thought it was just another adventure. Sadly, both of you would probably never see your home again. Before you opened the door to the duck man, you said goodbye to your cottage. You also promised yourself that you would protect Pixie with your life. You didn't want some guy with a big ego to ruin everything you had.

So you opened your door to the slightly taller man.

     "Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes." You replied, blocking Pixie from Quackity. You didn't want to take any chances.

"Follow me, I think you will love your new home."

You knew you wouldn't. You never would. You hated this man for taking you away from your home. You closed your door behind you for the last time. You said goodbye to the house that served you for many years and stepped away.

"Sure." You said, exhausted. This guy was not the best for your mental health right now.

"So how old are you?" He asked.

"I thought you knew everything about me?" You asked, not even looking in his direction.

"Not everything. Now talk to me. I don't want us to have an awkward relationship while you're working for me."

"I wouldn't say awkward. More like toxic." You said under your breath. "I'm 21. What about you?"

"22, do you want any specific job?"

     "No, I don't care anymore."

"Fine, if you're going to be like that." He said angrily.

     "Be like what?"

     "Being bitchy."

"Put yourself in my shoes and maybe you can understand why I'm being 'bitchy'. " You said as you both entered the desert. You could see the mountain in the distance that you explored the other day.

You got more and more depressed the farther you walked away from your cottage. You never wanted to go here and you could tell Pixie was getting hot. She wasn't built for this kind of weather. You hoped and prayed that there was air conditioning wherever you were living.

Eventually, you got to the edge of Las Nevadas. It looked very different the closer you got. It was right around 3 pm so the sun was still up, but you wanted to see all of the lights at night.

You were in front of the casino you saw the other day and Quackity turned to you.

He said excitedly, "Welcome to Las Nevadas, dear Y/n!"
