Doing What You Do Best

It's been a couple of days since you got your new job, working for Quackity in Las Nevadas. There hasn't been much action spy-wise. Until today.

At the moment you were working. It's been an hour or so until Quackity showed up.

You watched as Quackity walked into the restaurant and started looking over the tops of people's heads. You could tell it was him from the beanie. He walked up to the front and saw you.

"Ah, Y/n! I need to talk to you, darling."

He's been calling you weird names more and more often. Consisting of the names darling, hun, babe, and love.

"What do you need?" You asked.

"Follow me, we need to talk in private."

Maybe he will finally let you go, or give you a job. Speaking of a job, he had been living up to your expectations and gave you the money you deserved.

You followed Quackity into the back of the building. He closed the door behind you after checking to make sure no one followed you both.

"I have a job for you. A spy job."

Holy shit. Finally, after being stuck here for a week or so of being a goddamn server. Against your will, no less!

"Well? What is it?"

"Oh, I thought you would have a way better reaction. Well, there is a certain someone that has recently come back to this world. I need to know what he's about." He handed a piece of paper to you. "This is what he looks like."

When you got a good look at the image, it was a picture of a man. The man wore a red beanie atop his head. Coming out of the hat was long hair in a small ponytail on his neck. His hair was brown with a white streak in the middle. His eyes were chocolate brown with eye bags underneath. The man wore a long leather jacket with a yellow sweater underneath. The sweater had a large stitch in the middle with dried blood around it. He looked young and old at the same time. Like he went to hell and back.

"His name is Wilbur," Quackity said.

"What did you mean by 'recently come back'?" You asked.

"He lost all three of his lives and has been revived recently. He was insane the last time he was alive. I need to know if he still is. I want you to record what he does and report to me. Can you do that?"

"Yes. Where can I find him?" You were genuinely nervous for the next couple of hours. But hey, you're getting paid lots for this.

"Charlie told me he was in L'Manburg last. I recommend you go there first."

And after those words you were off. You got your bag full of supplies and some weapons. Then you started walking towards L'Manburg. You were surprised that Quackity let you do this job after your failed escape attempt. But you supposed that he's very worried about this Wilbur guy.

Eventually, you made your way to the edge of L'Manburg. When you got there you immediately noticed the giant crater in the earth. You knew there was an explosion but you didn't know how large it was. Above the crater, there was a city. You followed the paths with your eyes. The paths moved up a mountain and in some parts, the city was farther down in the crater. This city was much smaller the last time you were here.

You were hiding in some trees not too far from the town. And it didn't take long to hear Tommy's piercing voice draw your attention. You turned in the direction of where Tommy's voice came from. You saw the blond and white-haired boy walking with Tubbo, who you knew to be Schlatt's son.

You knew Tommy was closest to Wilbur, so he shouldn't be very far. You watched Tommy and Tubbo walk the paths of L'Manburg. They walked until they reached the middle of the town and sat on a bench. You eavesdropped on their conversation, not caring until you heard his name.

"I thought Wilbur would be here by now," Tubbo said.

"I told him to get here a while ago. Before the war he would've been here an hour before the time I said. But now he's changed. I'm worried about him, Tubbo." Tommy turned to the shorter boy.

"I understand how you feel. But people change all the time, Tom. You're going to have to accept his change sooner than later. Yeah, it's a hard change, but he shouldn't have changed too much, right?"

"You would think so. It seems now that he basically worships Dream for bringing him back. But he doesn't know what Dream did while he was gone. What he did to me! I would think that he still hates him because of everything in the past."

"Then we're going to have to enlighten him. We'll tell him everything that Dream did. I promise you, Tom." Tubbo said, placing a scarred hand on Tommy's shoulder.

     "Thank you."

They changed the subject after that. Because of that conversation, you knew a little about what Wilbur was about. He seems like a bitch. You thought as you wrote down the important parts of that conversation into a pocketbook that you would give Quackity.

Eventually, Wilbur finally arrived. He looked exactly like the picture Quackity gave you. Thank God because you didn't want to go looking for a guy on the run.

You watched as Tommy and Tubbo stood up from their spots on the bench and started walking toward Wilbur.

"There you are, Will! Took you long enough." Tommy said, annoyed.

"Oh, you waited thirteen years for me to come back, you could wait a couple more minutes." Wilbur joked.

"I told you, time works differently in Limbo. It was only a month or so for us. I think?" Tommy said and turned to Tubbo expectedly like he would know the answer to his question. Tubbo shrugged in response.

"Will, we want to talk to you about Dream," Tubbo said.

"Oh, yes. But please, let's go to my old home if it's still there at least. There are eyes and ears everywhere..." Wilbur replied as he turned in your direction.

Fear shook you to your core. How did he know you were there? You were so scared, you couldn't move. You just sat there, shell-shocked. You watched as Wilbur turned back to the boys and led them farther away from the place they were standing.

You had so one hundred questions running through your head at once, but you couldn't answer them. You had to get out of there, you didn't know what Wilbur could do. So you left, back the way you came.

You kept walking until you reached a spot you knew was safe. Not Las Nevadas, but the woods you grew to love.
