Back in The Beacon Hill Preserve, with Allison and Lydia...
Lydia stood there, observing intently as Allison skillfully swapped the Bullet Point for the conical flash bolt that Kate had given her. Curiosity sparked within Lydia as she asked, "What does that do?"
A determined expression crossed Allison's face as she took aim in front of a distant tree, where a target was pinned. She pulled back the bowstring's nocking point, aligning the arrow perfectly beneath her sight. The tension in the air grew as Lydia watched with bated breath. And then, with a release, the bolt soared through the air, exploding in a brilliant flash against the tree, creating mesmerizing swirls of light.
Lydia, caught off guard by the dazzling display, exclaimed, "What the hell was that?" Allison lowered her bow, gazing at the smoking, scorched target on the tree, and shook her head. "I don't know," she admitted.
As a cold breeze swept through the surroundings, Lydia wrapped her arms around herself for warmth.
Allison returned, clutching the burnt target in her hand, and Lydia jokingly remarked, "Well, that was fun. Any other lethal weapons you want to try out?"
However, Allison's attention abruptly shifted as she listened intently to the rustling of leaves and bushes around them. Sensing something, she snapped at Lydia to be quiet. They both strained their ears, but the sound had ceased, leaving them in an eerie silence.
Allison handed Lydia her bow, instructing her to hold it, while she cautiously stepped away from the path. A rustling noise accompanied her movements, causing her to halt and lean against a tree.
Taking a deep breath, Allison retrieved The TASER X26 and fired its twin prongs, which flew through the air and made contact with... Scott.
Scott recoiled and collapsed to the ground, his cries muffled by the jolt of electricity coursing through his body. Allison rushed over, attempting to remove the prongs, but Scott was still convulsing with spasms.
In his agony, Scott managed to utter, "Finger—trigger—finger," revealing that Allison's finger had remained on the trigger, causing the continuous electric shock.
Realizing her mistake, Allison let out a startled exclamation and dropped the weapon to the ground. As the shock subsided, Scott finally regained control of his body, breathing heavily amidst the fallen leaves.
"I'm so, so, so sorry," Allison heaved, her face filled with remorse.
Blaming herself, Scott took a deep breath and composed himself, assuring Allison, "My fault. Totally my fault." Concerned, she asked if he was okay, to which he shakily replied, "Yeah. F-f-f-fine," as the residual energy continued to affect his muscles.
Allison expressed her regret, admitting that she didn't know it was him, but Scott teasingly questioned whether she would have still pulled the trigger. Understanding the jest, Allison denied it and apologized sincerely.
As Scott plucked the prongs from his shirt and skin, wincing in pain, he attempted to return the Taser to Allison but was interrupted by another convulsion, causing the weapon to slip from his grasp. Allison caught it and gave him an uncertain smile, worried about his well-being.
Ensuring that Scott was truly okay, Allison asked him about his presence there and whether he had been following them. Scott clarified that he knew she ran the trail sometimes, as her dad had informed him, and he had hoped to catch her alone.
