Usually, Jungkook sleeps till noon. At least since the accident. But this time, he wakes up a lot earlier. Not because he wants to but because the stupid doorbell keeps ringing. He'd like to ignore it. The idea of Hobi or another of his friends coming over would piss him off. He doesn't want to hear them talk about "moving on" or anything like that. But whoever is on the other side keeps insisting and it's becoming impossible to ignore. Dragging his feet, he walks up to the door and opens only to find a total stranger on the other side.
- Good morning! Jungkook, right?
- Yeah...I'm sorry, who are you?
- I'm your neighbor!
That helps him relax. It's better to see someone from the building that won't have a that sympathetic look on their face. Actually, the boy looks almost eager to meet him.
- What can I help you with? If it's a complaint about loud music playing during the night it's the apartment upstairs. It's haunted or something!
- Hahaha I didn't come to complain about that ghost. I just wanted to ask you how your water pressure is. The one in my apartment is working like shit and I don't know if it's me or something about the building
- Sure, come in!
Jungkook is always free to help others. Especially people who can say the word "ghost" so casually! He guides him to his bathroom so they can check the water pressure as they talk.
- Sorry, you know my name but I can't recognize you. What's your apartment again?
- Right next door. I'm Jimin!
- Ji...Oh, I know you! Yoongi told me about you!
The boy by his side freezes for second as his eyes open wide. There's a bright smile and a hopeful look that make him look adorable.
- He did?! What did he say?! Something nice?!
- We were on the elevator a few months ago and I asked him if he had a girlfriend. He said he was divorced which was uncomfortable as fuck. But when I apologized he said-
- What?! What did he say?!
Jimin can't help to interrupt looking excited as hell so Jungkook tries to remember the exact words he heard that day.
- He said "Don't apologize, I'll marry again as soon as Jimin says yes". Then he left. I'm guessing you said yes ha...what? You look shocked
- HE'S GONNA PROPOSE?!
Jungkook realizes he just ruined a huge surprise. But how could he know?! That conversation was months ago! He thought the wedding happened already! But now that he thinks about it, Min really sounds like the type of guy to plan things through for a long time.
- Shit, I'm so sorry! Please, pretend to be surprised when he does!
- Hahaha it's okay! You just made my day a million times better!
He's glad Jimin didn't take it the wrong way. Jungkook checks the water pressure for him, showing him it works perfectly. But when he turns around, he notices something on his neighbor's face.
- Hold on, your nose is bleeding! Wait, I think I have something to stop it!
- Oh...Okay, thank you
The boy doesn't seem surprised. It feels like this is an everyday thing. While Jimin sits by the sink, the younger helps him stop the bleeding. Since it'll take some minutes, they end up having a conversation. One that Jungkook would prefer not to have.
- You miss Taehyung?
- Ye...How do you know about him?
- I know everyone in the building. I guess I gossip around when I'm bored. And I'm always bored hahaha except when I'm with Yoonie, of course
- I see... Obviously I miss him. He was my best friend and my...almost boyfriend. We ran out of time for that. Sometimes I can't believe he's dead...
- Hmmm I understand...
- But lately I think he's still here!
He's trying to avoid the sad part of his death and focus on his possible ghost. And for some reason, his neighbor doesn't look at him like he's going crazy.
- Of course he's still here.
- If you tell me he's in my heart, I'll kick you out. Because I mean really here! Like a cute ghost!
Jimin stares at him trying to process what he just heard. But at the end he just takes a deep breath and smiles to show his support.
- I believe you. And don't kick me out but I'm sure he's in your heart as well hahaha
After a light talk about how much Kook wants to communicate with him and even bought things for it, Jimin finally has to leave. Not before promising he'll be of help when necessary. Jungkook never thought those words would make him so happy. At least there's one person out there who understands he doesn't want to move on.
That night, Jungkook has another dream. A memory of one of the last months he and Tae were living in that apartment together. During dinner, Tae was complaining about the same thing as usual.
- That fucking apartment upstairs is so noisy! You know what they did last night? They put music at 4 AM!
- It's haunted!
- Kook, ghosts aren't real. We just have a dumb neighbor
- One? Since we got here 3 three different people moved in and out of there! And they all say the stereo turns on their own!
- How do even know who lives there?
- Unlike you, I love chatting with others. A girl from the first floor told me a new guy will take that apartment next month! Kim Jamoon or something
- I don't know how you can remember details like that
- I don't know about you but I plan to live here with you until we die! So we should at least learn the names of our neighbors
Jungkook didn't notice but Tae blushed hearing it. He wasn't expecting his crush to say they'll live together forever so lightly. Like it was obvious they don't wanna be apart.
- I'm not like you, Kook. I don't like talking to people
- That's okay. As long as you keep talking to me~
- Hahaha I wouldn't be able to stop myself. I'll keep talking to you until the very end...
