When Jungkook wakes up there's no one in his bed. Tae's image is gone and he once more has to open his eyes in an empty room. Still, he doesn't allow himself to be sad. Not when he finally had to chance to see him. And he's sure he'll get to talk to him very soon. When Jungkook goes to the living room he can see Jimin is no longer there. He must be working or passing his time with Yoongi. Only now he remembers how lonely these days without his roommate are. His neighbor was helping him get in touch with the world again but now he has the day for himself. He's about to start his mission of connecting with Tae once more when he sees there's a message in his answering machine.
- Hey! What's up? It's me, Hobi! Uhm...I just...well...call me, okay? I know you're going through a lot but...you don't need to lock yourself in that apartment. We don't want you to be alone all da-
Jungkook makes sure to erase the message. He doesn't need to hear it all to know what he's trying to say. He's not alone. Tae is there. That's all he needs. To have him is enough. He doesn't wanna go out with other friends knowing one of them is missing.
His cheeks get wet with the tears falling from his eyes. When was the last time he left this place? Ever since the accident he locked himself here and didn't even think in going out. He can't bring himself to do it. Wherever he used to go before, Tae was always there with him. And he's not here anymore. He's not gonna come back. Even if they can communicate, he can't be sure he'll be able to hold him in his arms again.
He feels his throat closing at the thought. Facing the loss of the love of his life is getting harder by the day. And the only reason he doesn't break down completely is because someone knocks on his door and a high pitched voice sounds.
- Kookie? It's Jimin again! You there?
When the younger opens the door, Jimin can see those glassy eyes and weak look. Immediately, he stops smiling and tries to comfort the poor boy.
- Hey...you wanna go outside? Get some ice cream or-
- I don't wanna leave...
- Mmmm what about the rooftop? We can have some privacy and you'll get some fresh air at least!
That doesn't sound so bad. A little step for anyone else but something huge for him. Following Jimin, he gets to the top floor and finally to the rooftop where the wind is softly blowing and the sun is hiding between the clouds. They sit near the edge and stare at the city. Jungkook tries to think of a conversation away from his own thoughts.
- How did you and Yoongi meet?
- Uuuh, a-at work
- You don't sound fully convinced. If you met somewhere weird you can tell me
- Hahaha it really was at work! At my work.
- What did you do?
- I was his wife's assistant.
Jimin has a soft embarrassed tone as Jungkook stares at him wide eyed. Who would've thought those two started dating as an affair.
- Holy shit, really?!
- Yup. He used to come see her but she was always in meetings so he used to stay near my desk and we'd talk and...one thing led to the other I guess
- Wooow...and how did she take it when she found out?
Jimin looks down avoiding his eyes and lets out a chuckle. It sounds kind of sarcastic.
- Worst than we expected...
- I can imagine hahaha
- But that's in the past. He chose me! And I'll marry him some day.
- He didn't propose yet?
Jimin shows him a sad smile and denies with his head. The younger looks up at the sky and the clouds. The words just come out his mouth. As always, there's only one thing inside his mind. Only one person taking over his thoughts.
- I fell in love with Tae instantly. We were so different back then. He was a social butterfly, a kid that would never obey anyone and always wanted things his way. He had a special face he made when he got what he wanted. A smile where his lips would stretch and his pretty cheeks would get even more squishy than usual.
- I don't see how can say you were different. You're always easy to socialize with. You talk to Yoonie even if he's always so quiet! And you want things your way as well.
- That's how I am now. But back then I was so shy. I was scared to get close to any girl or boy. Eventually we were both an influence on each other and got a perfect balance. He became a little more serious and quiet and I became kinda messy. But it was still like...like having a soulmate always by my side.
- You two sound freaking adorable.
Jungkook wants to say something but when he turns to Jimin he can see the same thing as the first time they talked. There's once more some blood running down Jimin's nose
- Ah, shit you're bleeding again. We should go back. Why does this keep happening to you?
- My doctor said I'm not getting enough nutrients
- Well, then eat more! Jesus, you can have dinner with me someday. You can invite Yoongi over!
Jimin doesn't comment on that. Instead he asks Jungkook to keep telling him his story. Jungkook can't say no if that will help him get distracted from the blood they're trying to stop. And in the night he dreams about it again. About the first time Tae spot him in that party where he was too scared to dance. How Tae came closer with an extra drink for him and had a conversation that for some reason made him feel comfortable for the first time ever. They even ended up staying until the sun came up.
Tae used to always give the first step. He was the first one to talk, the first one to suggest they should move in together, the first one to confess. And yet Jungkook always stayed behind...

He died before I could ever tell him that
Ghosts tend to stay for an unfinished business
--------------------------------------------------------------
God, the saddest story I've ever written so far. But there's still a lot to come. The next two chapters are key! So I'll see you soon for them! The other day I realized there were two possible endings for this. I'll write my original idea but at the end I'll probably include the Alternative ending as well. (both endings have happy and sad parts. It's not a "good" ending and a "bad" ending really)
See ya~
