The group having no where else to go had decided to head for Fort Benning, they were on day two of traveling, a simple 2 hour journey in the old world seemed to now be a few days trip giving that the roads were blocked, the cars contantly ran out of fuel as they could only top the cars up with what they found and the constant reversing and trying to find a better path didn't help.A few of the guys syphoned fuel when they stopped at the side of the road to regroup, having to ditch the truck that Phoebe and Daryl were in as well as ditching Shanes car. It was very tight now, the RV was packed with everything that the truck held as well as Andrea, Tdog and Shane adding to Dale and Glenn so Phoebe had to travel with Daryl.
It wasn't awful for the woman being on the bike with the wind in her hair it was actually freeing in a way, the two of them leading the others, her arms being wrapped loosely around his waist. He had long since lossened up from his tensed state when she first wrapped her arms around him, it's almost like she'd become a part of him and he no longer felt her as a second person but being on the road with someone pressed against you for so long would do that.
On the highway there was an overturned semi-truck and a pile up so Daryl circled back stopping at Dale's drivers window "See a way round?" Dale asked and both Daryl and Phoebe turned to look, Daryl nodded and walked the bike round before slowly leading the others through the gaps they could see.
However they didn't make it far as Dales RV gave a loud groan and steam came flying from the hood then the engine cut out so Daryl pulled the bike to a stop and held it steady while Phoebe held his shoulders and swung her leg over to the side stretching her legs he went straight to scavenging in the cars.
"There's a whole bunch of stuff we can find" Daryl replied to something Shane had said but Phoebe just walked to a nearby car to pick through it and she picked a good one because there were a few cans of food and two bottles of water so she packed them into her backpack.
"I can syphon more fuel from these cars for a start" Tdog stated walking passed grinning at her on the way as he moved further up to start.
"This is a graveyard" Lori spoke to the group, arms wrapped around herself for comfort not believing the state the road was in.
"I know Lori but they don't need it, we do" Phoebe gently reassured her before moving further up to look in another car, Carol was looking through a car next to her when Phoebe saw a bunch of plush toys ahead sticking out of an opened trunk.
"Mum look! Can I go!" Sophia having seen it as well starts walking to the car with the plush toys and Carol panics not wanting her to go far
"I got her don't worry" Phoebe smiles at the older woman and Carol sighs in relief nodding she went back to looking in the car grabbing a red shirt so Phoebe jogged catching up to the sweet girl.
"Do you want one?" Phoebe asked quickly picking up a pink backpack from the ground "here put whatever you want in here" Sophia grins sweetly going through the toys putting some in the bag that she liked she also packed a spiderman toy which Phoebe guessed was for Carl that she thought was sweet of the young girl. She'd already had a small talk with both of their mothers about how they'd more then likely to fall in love with each other from growing up in such a trauma based enviroment, the two mothers had even started a bet.
"Get down! Under the cars" Rick whispers sternly running to Lori as Phoebe looked up seeing the horde of walkers approaching so she helped Sophia under a car and followed her under it, was a big-ish truck so she could fit under with her bow on her back. The walkers started passing them and Phoebe drew the young girl close having to put a hand over Sophia's mouth when she whimpered.
