Phoebe stood beside Rosita and Maggie while Michonne spoke, she was mainly trying to comfort Maggie as Glenn hadn't made it back with Nicholas "The town was over run, he split off with Nicholas. He had this idea that if he lit a fire it would stop the walkers from coming here...I tried to go instead, i wanted too. The fire never got lit, we had to keep going i'm sorry, he said if he was stuck he'd try and send a signal"
"You did the right thing Michonne, Glenn knows what he's doing. If anyone can get in and out of an over run town it's Glenn, he's done it before" Phoebe placed her hand on Maggie's bicep and Maggie placed one of hers on top of Phoebe's.
"What kind of signal?" Maggie questioned and Michonne shook her head opening her mouth to answer but a deep yell cut her off.
"OPEN THE GATE!"
Phoebe snapped her head towards the gate, she'd recognise her brothers voice anywhere, running towards the gate ripping the first one open she then saw Rick, Phoebe could see he was exhausted and it was obvious as to why.
Behind Rick not even a few feet were what looked to be half the horde they were leading away, Rick dodged a few walkers his shoulders clipping the one closest to him. Phoebe watched as her brothers knees buckled one of them hitting the concrete beneath him.
Running forward the moment the second gate had opened enough she made it to her brothers side "Few more feet Ricky, get up" she snarled pulling him back to his feet as she threw out her right arm that was holding her hunting knife killing the walker closest to her, the two Grimes siblings rushed the gate not even getting inside fully before the others started closing it.
The effect was immediate, people had gathered and the Alexandrian people had either started crying of where staring at the gate with dazed wide eyes.
"Tobin, do these walls have any weak spots you know of?" Phoebe turned finding the man who had been leader of the construction crew before Abraham took over releasing her brother who bent over grabbing his thighs trying to catch his breath.
"Yes, there's two panels on the west side of the entrance, it had been weak before but the truck today have damaged it" the tall man nodded waving her to join him as he walked towards said panels.
"Do we have anything here that will stop these walls from giving in?" she took in the wall, it was better then the chain link back at the prison so that was a plus.
"We have a few steel beams as well as some timbers beams too" he looked down at the curly brunette who nodded.
"We need to get going, it's easier to fix this before it's at leaning into the community with a few walkers climbing it like it's the black Friday sale" She sighed and he nodded waving on a few members of the construction crew to get started, Phoebe followed and started helping them all bring the beams back watching as they started supporting the panels with them.
The crowd of observers had grew, everyone talking between themselves listening to the growls and snarls of the walkers just behind the walls.
In the most fucked up way it didn't bother her, it had long become white noise but then again she had lived at the prison for almost a year give or take, there were no calendars in the apocalypse.
"You can hear it" she turned her head catching sight of her brother who was walking over "Some of you saw it, They got back here, half of them. Still enough to surround us 20 deep" a few gasps rung out, many looking sick at his words. It was very clearly obvious as to who had survived out there and who hadn't.
"Look, i know you're scared. You haven't seen anything like this...You haven't been through anything like this but we're safe for now, the panel the truck hit seem to be intact and they have reinforced it" Rick nodded at his sister who nodded back "Either way the walls gonna hold together, can you? The others are gonna be back"
