Phoebe had woken early, exiting her cell she noticed everyone was still asleep apart from Daryl, looking around she couldn't see him so she went searching.
Phoebe found the Dixon in the laundry room, his back was turned from her, she froze to a complete stop. Daryl wasn't wearing his shirt instead he was bare but his skin wasn't as he had several scars littering his back, he had one large lash mark starting on his right shoulder and finishing by his waist on his left side, He had two deep cross marks on his left shoulder that looked deeper then the others and he had another two smaller lashes on his lower back right side both about six to seven inches.
There were several other smaller scars but they were all old, the skin almost fully flat with the surrounding skin and a pink tone only one or two shades darker then his normal skin tone, these scar were old indeed probably at least fifthteen years old if she had to guess.
But it was the tattoo that caught her attention, there on his right shoulder was a dipictation of a angel/demon hybrid.
"Is that how you see yourself?" Phoebe couldn't stop the words as they slipped.
Daryl spun round, his eyes wide almost buldging as he roughly pulled a shirt over his head, Phoebe noticed his breathing picking up "What?" he all but snarled.
"The hybrid tattoo? Is that how you view yourself?" She asked again but he didn't answer just choosing to watch her "At least that's what i thought it was, an angel, demon hybrid. Did you know most would call that a nephilim? That was what they called the offspring of fallen angels and humans but that could be disputed as other believed they were actually giants" Phoebe knew she was rambling at this point, she'd walked in on him and had seen something she knew he didn't want anyone to see.
"If i may, I would be more inclinded to believe you were more angel then demon" her gaze dropped to her hands as she picked at the skin on her left thumb.
Daryl scoffed "You don't know what you're talking about, you don't know shit about me"
"But i do...I know that your kind, you try to be empathetic even if you don't share your own emotions freely, the group sees you as a protector because that's what you do Daryl" He looked away from her, she'd seen his back and she could play it off about his tattoo all she liked but he knew she'd seen them, Phoebe guess his thought process.
"You don't have to be ashamed of them you know?" she whispered just loud enough that he caught it, his whole body reared back from her "I used to be...But a friend of mine used to keep reminding me how my scars are just reminders of how much stronger you are then whatever tried to hurt you"
"You don't know anything!" he snarled taking a few steps towards her but she didn't move.
She looked down at his now clothed chest seeing it rise and fall with his quick breaths "I know that we're more similar then you think"
Daryl scoffed "I've heard stories from your childhood, your daddy never touch you girl" his lip raised into a deep sneer, so it was his father.
"I never said he did Daryl, our upbringings were different and you did not deserve a single moment of it. While my scars did not come from a loved one, i recieved them for a loved one" Daryl stayed silent as her eyes got a slight far away look in them.
"It was either me or my partner Morgan, I had riled up the unsub so he wouldn't kill Morgan" she let loose a weak chuckle "I thought i had his full attention while Morgan grabbed his spare gun but i didn't, he shot my partner and took me"
"Took you?" Daryl frowned deeply at the words.
"He was training to be a doctor, knew where to cut, how deep, how to patch them up to make his victims last longer through the torment he found joy in" Phoebe shivered slightly pushing memories away "He had me for days but i would do it again in a moment if it meant Morgan not having to go through what i did" she looked up at Daryl "So yes, my father didn't beat me but our scars are both the results of demons who wished us harm"
