I SAT WITH my back up against the wall, my tired eyes trained on hershel. watching for any time of movement that would show him either waking up or turning into something he wasn't.

glenn lent up against the doorframe, shifting his gaze between me and the older man. i could tell he was worried about both of us. he wanted to me to leave and get some sleep but i couldn't bring myself to not stay. if i could have time like this with dale or my dad i would.

"hey, glenn... carsyn, i need your help with something" carol spoke, breaking the silence in the room.

"right now?" glenn asked, his eyes shifting down to her, "what is it?"

carol shook her head, getting up from her seat to move outside of the room, "not here"

"we can't leave hershel" i stated, uncrossing my legs to lean forward, uncomfortable in my position.

"we're fine—go on"

i look to quinn who gave me a look, her voice coming out stern, "you won't take long... go"

me and glenn glance at each other before slowly nodding, i pushed out of my chair. moving out of the room to follow them outside.

"i think it's best if you and i practice a c section— just in case we're in a position that we need to help lori" carol informed, pulling the gate open so we can walk along the gravel.

i nodded in agreement, giving her a confused look, "i agree, but what are we supposed to practice on? each other? because that's kind of weird"

"uh— no, i was thinking a walker"

glenn nodded, coming to a stop when carol turned to look out through the fence, "that's what you needed me for"

i shrugged, "maybe she wants you to practice too. who knows when you'll have to deliver a baby"

"not funny" he muttered, moving his eyes to carol who now pointed at a walker, "that one"

he licked his lips, giving the woman an unsure look, "everything you're saying is completely sane. you wanting to use a walker for practice is a sane thing. i mean it, okay? i'm just trying to wrap my mind around it"

"loris overdue, she had carl by c section— she's probably gonna have this one the same way. hershel had a little bit of experience with this kind of thing, he can't do it anymore. we need experience" carol sighed, earning a nod from glenn before he moved forward. sticking his knife through the walkers brain.

i started to run my bat along the fence, yelling for the walkers to follow me so they could get the body inside.

carol pulled the body into the courtyard, while glenn made his way to me, "i'm going back inside to see hershel. you gonna be okay?"

i smirked, rolling the bat with my wrist, "believe it or not, rhee. i can survive without you."

he nodded, pulling my head to his lips, pressing a short kiss to my forehead, "i love you"

i smiled, grabbing his wrist so i could look up at him as he pulled away, "i love you more"

we both leaned in, our lips clashing together. we haven't had a moment like this since we were at the farm. i savored it as his tongue broke through my lips, his mouth exploring mine.

we soon pulled away from each other, his hand motioning me to where carol went, "go do what you have to do— don't be scared by the idea of it. i have a surprise for you tonight."

i smirked, taking a step back, "i can't wait"

the sound of birds chirping and light evading onto my eyes lids caused me to stir. at my movement, a heavy strong weight constricted me from moving before pulling me back tighter.
