"ITS NOT UP TO ME. there's a council now. they run this place." rick announced loudly, the worry extremely evident in his voice.

we had a lot of people down. most of our fighters were just recovering from the sickness. the people from woodbury hadn't had a lot of training. we were at a loss right now if things were to go south.

i didn't know what rick was thinking or planning either. everything was happening so quickly.

"is hershel on the council?" he called back, causing my brows to furrow in confusion. though, my eyes soon darted to a woman who began to move towards a car— reaching into grab something.

my hand was squeezed tightly before a gasp sounded throughout the air. she didn't grab something, but someone.

seeing hershel now being pulled out of the car caused my heart to plummet.

"what about michonne? she on the council, too?

as if it couldn't get any worse, the woman i had grown close to was pulled out next. i pinched my eyes shut in anger... maybe even defeat.

i felt a hand being placed on my shoulder i'm comfort, snapping my eyes back open to see daryl. he didn't show any remorse on his face, but i knew he was trying to do his best to comfort me.

"i don't make the decisions anymore!" rick fired back angrily, earning a smirk from phillip who shrugged, "you're making the decisions today, rick. come down here and let's... let's have that talk."

my eyes flickered to rick who hesitantly turned to look back to where me and daryl stood. wanting to see what daryl thought about the situation. the man only gave him a slow nod, knowing if we wanted to get michonne and hershel back— this was the only way.

rick turned to carl, placing his hand on the back of his neck as he nodded his head, "we can do this... alright?"

carl nodded in response before the contact was broken between the two as rick moved to open the gate.

my heart pounded in my rib cage as he began to walk down the gravel path towards where the governor stood. daryl immediately turned towards us, knowing he has to step in, "we can't take them all on. we'll go through the admin building, through the woods like we planned. we ain't got the numbers no more. when's the last time someone checked the stash on the bus?"

i sighed, shaking my head, "the day before we hit the big spot... we were gonna use what we got from there to refill but it went south."

"yeah, we were running low on rations then. we're lower now" sasha added, coming up behind us with tyreese.

daryl nodded, glancing back down to where rick was, "yeah, we'll manage. things go south, everyone heads for that bus. let everybody know."

we all nodded, turning our attention back to the powwow going on below us. we couldn't tell anymore what they were saying. they were no longer yelling, it sounding more like a whisper.
