I FELT ARMS wrap around my body, struggling breaths falling from what sounded like a woman's mouth. the push and the pull only caused my chest to constrict more but soon it stopped.
my back felt ice cold as i was placed on a hard surface. i willed my eyes to open— to see what was going on. to see what might have triggered an attack for my chest to hurt this bad. to see what could've caused my head to feel like there was a hole in it. to see why parts of my stomach and chest burned like someone had drug a torch across my delicate skin. to see why i couldnt feel my legs... but i couldnt.
growling caught my attention, soon followed by a gunshot like everything was in fast motion. oh god... did i turn? was i a walker now? did i not have control over my body? is this what they think like?
"carsyn— carsyn marie, wake up. wake up baby" a comforting female voice spoke, i'd smile if i could. it was lori— the woman who had almost every part in raising me.
"okay, your dads here. it's gonna be okay. everything will be okay" she assured, the sound of a door slamming followed her words.
what sounded like a sob echoed around me, a heart wrenching sob that shattered my heart knowing who it came from.
i soon felt arms wrap around me as i was pulled into a strong embrace, "what happened to her? what happened to my baby girl?"

i'd never heard him sob in his whole life... let alone let out a tear of remorse for anyone. this is what pushed me to open my eyes. i wanted to see him. i wanted to show him i was brave. that i was okay and he didn't have to cry.
"dad" i spoke, my voice coming out husky as i spoke. i peeked at him through my lashes, blinking lightly when all i could see for a moment was red.
"car" he breathed out, boosting me up in his arms, "don't worry, we'll get you fixed up okay?"
i just nodded, not completely understanding what was happening. i just remember the talk i had with him and the song i was strumming and practicing for glenn so that when he returned i could sing it to him.
"glenn" i choked out , watching my father intently as he slid me into the car, placing my head on loris lap, "is he back? is he okay? i wanna go look for him. i don't wanna leave without him"
my father heaved a breath, glancing at lori worriedly before looking back down at me, "yeah, he's back. they're all back. they're all safe and sound."
