Y/n woke up that morning with an elbow to the back and a smack on the side, she turned to her back to see that her husband was reaching his arms out whimpering small noo sounds as well as a few calls for a certain name and it wasn't her own. 'Neytiri' was the only name to fall from his lips anymore, it fell in the same fear and the same sadness that Y/ns name once did. And those whimpers and cries only came from one thing, nightmares, the flashbacks that only came when he feared for her safety rather than his own. But now he only gives that fear to another woman, a Navi. Y/n slowly got out of bed unfazed by his cries of pain for another, it wasn't the first time and it definitely wouldn't be the last.

When she was done getting ready for the day she woke Jake, he was a lot calmer than he was most mornings. He actually gave her a smile when he looked at her. They talked about what they had planned for the day ahead of them while Jake was getting ready, then they went to the kitchen area. When they entered there were a few soldiers around one table and the colonel standing with them but only talking to Lyle, both men looking like gossiping housewives.

Miles looked over to greet them with a nod but when he saw her he couldn't help but send her a wink and his famous smile, that only uses one side of his lips, the very same lips she can never seem to look away from. Y/n smiles back but stops and looks away when shed felt something hit her leg from the side, it was Jakes chair. They finally sat down and got to eat a semi-peaceful meal together, save for Jake sending glares back over to Miles and glances to Y/n in what seemed like jealousy, only not as possessive. The soldiers were the first to leave, returning to the helo. Then the colonel and Lyle left, leaving only the couple in the room in an awkward silence. Trudy barged through on her way out, giving Y/n a quick side-hug telling her that they would be waiting for her outside.

That silence was broken in the next second with Jake huffing over his breakfast. "I don't like the way that damn colonel was looking at you." Jake grumbled.

"Jake I really don't understand how that's a concern. He looks at all the women that way, so why should I be any more special than them? What makes me so valuable? So different?" Y/n said with a scoff and a bit of pettiness, using one of her husband's most recent comments.

Jake looked away, not wanting to have an argument and ruin his mood for the day. They both finished their breakfast in silence but before they left to go to the pod room Jake spoke. "I'm sorry I know I haven't been here for you the way I should but I have a mission to do. I wouldn't be surprised if you're pissed at me for how I've been treating you and leaving you all by yourself. I deserve it, I deserve your anger and I know you deserve better" Jake gave the last phrase more emphasis. And then he started again, this time slower and quieter for only her to hear.

With that they left the room and when they turned the corner to the hallway all they could hear was Norm chattering on about how excited he was about everything and what he was planning to do that day. When they made it to the pod Jake grabbed her hand, he didn't say anything. He wanted to, he tried to think of what he could say to see one last smile but nothing. The look in Y/n's eyes was enough to send even Toruk Makto into silence.

They were interrupted by Trudy popping her head back in the room, her voice echoing in the small space "Buggy, are you coming or am I gonna have to leave without you?" That was Trudys nickname for her, partial nickname, the full name is 'Cuddle Bug'. The girls had made fast friends when Y/n first arrived on Pandora, now they would tease and torment the other RDA soldiers to the point of a complaint to the Colonel and the occasional death threat from Trudy.

Y/n followed Trudy into the front of the chopper, having gotten a crash course on flying from the beautiful woman next to her, she was able to get a license. Y/n looked out the window to her left seeing the separate pod location grow smaller, Trudys muffled voice in the background and the steady hum of the rotor from above began to fill her ears. Yet her mind was still focused on what her husband had whispered to her moments earlier. "Just know that I care for you. I-I care enough to know th-that I want you to be happy, and I-I know that doesnt include me." She then blushed, remembering how Miles winked at her that morning, then there was the teasing smirk that gave her butterflies.
