~*Trigger warning* descriptions of war, death, blood, shooting, and stabbing. Very angsty. This chapter and the next few were so hard to write, I absolutely love Miles~
~another small time skip. PS, the actual fight scene is going to be a little off from the movie. Sorry, not sorry~
Narrator POV
Miles and Jake are fighting outside of the pod station, Jake's human form is still in the pod, and Yn is hiding in there watching Jake's vitals.
"Where is Y/n? I know you sent her somewhere. That bastard took her." Miles hissed out, taking a swing at Jake again.
"What, the fuck, are you talking about? I thought you would've left her at hell's gate, to keep her safe." Jake crouched, dodging the hit.
"I fucking know you have her, one of your fuckers took her from the ship." Miles began yelling, grabbing ahold of Jake, pushing him up against a tree.
Jake groaned, his eyes widening. "The ship?! Why was she on the ship?" Jake struggled against the machine's grip, finally pulling his feet up and kicking out of the machines hold. The machine stepped back, Miles shaking his head at the controls.
Miles steps back, ready to hit again. "How should I know? The last I saw her, she was in my room, begging me not to leave. I thought she would've stayed there."
Jake scoffed, "You know as well as I do, how stubborn that woman is. Once she puts her mind to something, she's gotta have it." Jake readied himself for another attack, bracing his feet to the ground.
Miles smirks, "Oh yeah, I know. I also know that she wouldn't leave like that, not after last night." His smirk growing wider, lunging for another attack.
Jake rolled his eyes, grunting at the force of being thrown at another tree, hissing at Miles.
Miles smirks, stepping closer, his gaze shifting to the pod station. "You think you're one of them... time to wake up."
Y/N POV
I jump as the glass cracks, pressing my back against the pod that Jake is in, I finally look out the window. My eyes widened seeing Jake and Miles fighting, the glass casing around Miles' body broken. Mask, "he needs a mask." I grab one from the emergency stash and put it on, running to the door. I grab a second mask and run out, my eyes locked on Miles, trying to see him through the broken glass.
My gaze shifts to Neytiri, she's struggling to get out from under an animal. Dead, I think, as I see what looks like blood pouring out from wounds on its body.
I look back at Miles after hearing a crash. He now has a mask on and the glass casing is gone. I breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that he can breathe safely again. I stayed back a little, no one having seen me yet.
I decided to try to make my way back to the pod unit, my plan coming to a halt as Miles smashes through the wall. I yelp in shock as Jake pulls him back, his dagger stabbing into the headrest, nearly cutting Miles.
Jumping to my feet, I run back to the unit, trying to get to Jake, knowing he'll die if he doesn't have a mask. I stop again, hearing a gasp, I look over to see an arrow in Miles' chest.
I watch in horror as a second arrow is lodged into Miles' chest. Screaming, I run to him. Leaning over the mechanism, my hands pressing around the wounds, trying to stop the bleeding. My hands move to hold his head, looking at him through the mask. "I'm here Miles, I'm right here... please don't leave me."
He reaches out to me, a smile on his lips, "Princess..." I watch as the life fades from his eyes, his hand dropping. My mask fogs over as I sob, my hands shaking. I try pulling him out of the contraption, ripping at anything I can. My hands slipping at each pull, coated in blood...
His blood...
A pair of arms wrap around my waist, pulling me away. I scream at them to let go, clawing at their blue skin, their grip only tightening. "Please- please let me go. I can't live without him- Please- he needs help"
Their grip only tightens, carrying me further away. "I am sorry, lor." His voice was soft, my sobs shaking my body as I recognized his voice and relaxed against him.
"Please, Tsu'tey... I need him..." I look up at him, my sobs shaking my body. He sets me on the back of another ikran, climbing on behind me.
He sighs, looking away, "one day, lor." He looks at me for a second, then looks in front of us again. We fly higher into the sky, I continue crying softly, laying forward, hugging the neck of the ikran. Jake and Neytiri close behind, riding together.
Time skip, literally sobbing as I write this.
My sobs have turned into hiccups, still laying against the ikran's neck. "What are you naming it?
I hear a soft hum behind me, "I do not know yet... would you like to name her?"
I sit up, looking at him over my shoulder, "You want me to name her?... But she's yours, I don't know names in na'vi."
He chuckles softly, trying to cover it with a cough. I can hear his smile as he speaks, "It does not have to be in na'vi. any name you choose will be fine... nothing girly or childish. "
Now it's my turn to laugh, I think for a momen. "Valkyrie..."
"What is that? The meaning?..." Tsu'tey's curiosity got the better of him, tilting his head, looking at her, repeating the name in his head.
"It's a Norse mythology term for female warrior... the Valkyrie were the most elite fighters, brave and str-"
"Then Valkyrie it is," Tsu'tey nodded, his arms shifting on either side of me.
There was a deep silence for a while as we flew, my mind wandering. "Before, at the ship, why did you pull me away? I'm a human- sky demon... so why save me?"
He paused, looking at the landscape ahead of us. "I...." He paused again, "I don't know... I felt.... compelled, I guess. Compelled to protect you." When I don't respond, he continues, "You are different than the other demons... innocent. The way Fkew protected you from Mo'at..."
I sit quietly, thinking about what he had said. "When she shot Miles.... I was going back to the building to help Jake, to put a mask on him. But when she shot him... I was ready to let Jake die. Is that bad?"
"That man is a monster, he killed-"
"No, he was betrayed. He was hurt... he was looking for me.... he was scared. I love him and I couldn't save him...." Tears fill my eyes again, looking at my blood-stained hands. "I tried to... I tried to save him."
"He sealed his own fate when he killed my people. I know that is not what you want to hear, lor, but I want you to understand how we see it."
I look up at him, my mask fogging up again, "I get that, I do... but he was a man taking orders. His boss- leader- whatever made him do those things. It wasn't his choice.... I could've helped him..." My head stays down, my hands softly tracing the patterns on Valkyries neck. I speak softly, "Why do you keep calling me lor?... what does it mean?"
He stays silent for a moment, realizing what he'd been calling me. "... beautiful." He panics at her silence, fumbling over his words, "I do not mean that I want you, but I would like to be your friend.... you are very kind, even when you are in pain. For some reason, I feel like I must protect you."
