Chapter 19

It's been a few weeks now that I've been living in this house and we still don't know who wrote that note. Or how to break the news to Grayson but I have to stay focused. That's not why I'm here. It was early Sunday morning at 6am when I was awakened by Max standing at the Sid Of my bed. "Oh my god Max, you scared me! What are you doing here?" I asked "Emily's moving out '' Max said, trying not to sound too excited about it. "What" I said sitting up from my bed. "She's moving out" Max repeated "why?" I asked, still half asleep trying to understand what's going on. "She wants to say goodbye to you" he said as he helped me up. "Okay" I said as I walked out my door downstairs to see Emily waiting by the door. "Couldn't you have waited till at least 9am?" I asked grumpily. "We'll you don't have to say goodbye I just thought you would like to" Emily said avoiding eye contact. "Look I know you found someone else so I thought I would let you finish your misters with them" Emily said looking at me calmly. "Thank you" I said as I hugged her tight "goodbye" I said as I waved goodbye. Max looked as happy as ever "oh don't give me that look I'm going back to sleep" I said grumpily as i walked back to my room. "When I woke up I texted Grayson to meet me at our spot. "Hey" Grayson said smiling "we have one hour before my dad gets back from his trip So make it quick" Grayson said as he sat down next to me. "Look grayson i'm going to be straightforward with you I think of you as a brother and I found someone else" I said avoiding eye contact. He went silent and he didn't say a word "grayson" I said looking at him "I'm glad you told me, but if you don't mind who?" Grayson asked me to take a deep breath before saying "max" I said softly "oh" Grayson said gently "I'm sorry" I said in tears "I'm sorry I do this to everyone I always hurt them" I cried Grayson looked at me before hugging me. "No no you're fine I love you either way" grayson paused "I think of you like a sister to I would like to stay that way" grayson said as he whipped my tears away. "Okay thanks for understanding," I said as I stood up. "Yes of course," Grayson smiled as we headed back home.

"I'm coming for you Millie watch out, or don't, I don't care!" I read every word carefully. Max and Grayson looked at me "who could have written this?" Max asked "yeah who knows you're living here?" asked Grayson "no one I'd not think" I said "well clearly someone does" max said pointing to the note "yeah but who?" I asked "that's the problem we have to figure out" max said shrugging his shoulders. "Wait pull out the other note" max said holding the note in his hand "okay" I said as I pulled it out from my vent. "Here" I said as I handed him the note he held both notes in his hand as he read them both carefully. "It's the same handwriting," Max said, looking up at me. "Wait I know this pen" Grayson said watching every word he said "it could have been any pen" max commented "no this isn't any old pen this was a dip pen" Grayson said glancing at the notes "a what now" max said "a dip pen the one they used in the olden days" Grayson said like that was obvious. "Who still writes with those?" I added "the only ones still left are in this house it had to be one of the staff" Grayson said eyeing the notes. Then Max grabbed my hand and ran downstairs. "Where are we going?!" I asked "to the library" max said as Grayson followed behind. We walked into the library to see Mrs Martinez sitting at the desk "hello" Grayson said politely "oh hello dear how can I help you?" She asked "do you own a dip pen?" I asked "oh no dear we don't have those here anymore they got stolen im sorry dear" mrs Martinez said apologetic. "Oh do we know who?" Max added "no we don't we just know it was one of the staff" she said we nodded then walked off.

"Who should we ask next?" I asked Grayson shrugged "how about we ask the cleaning people?" Max added "sure" I said "let's split up" Grayson said "I'll go upstairs Grayson go downstairs and max you stay on this level" I said ordering everyone. "Okay" Grayson and Max said at the same time. Grayson started walking downstairs to see Penelope "hey Penelope" Grayson called out "yes" Penelope stopped and turned around "do you own a dip pen?" He asked "no I'm afraid not they all got robbed about a month ago from Monday" Penelope said shrugging her shoulders "oh okay" Grayson said turning away "wait why, do you need one?" Penelope asked "yes I do, why?" Grayson quickly turned to face her "I think Diana might have one" Penelope paused "I think she's upstairs" she continued "okay thanks" Grayson said running. Upstairs to see Max "hey max I think Diana might have one" grayson called out max stopped and turned around "she does!?" He asked "yes?" "When did they get robbed?" Max asked "about a month ago from Monday" Grayson said confused "the day Millie moved in, the same day she got that note and the same day Diana got the dip pen" max commented Grayson looked at him "you got all of that from Diana has a dip pen" Grayson said in shock "yup I guess so" max said very proud at what he's done. I was on my way to Diana's room when. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped but when I tried to turn around I hand went over my mouth and brought me into a closet. I didn't see their faces but then they were gone and the door was locked. "Help help!" I cried no responde "please" I kicked the door and banged on it no response I pulled out my phone and texted max "max please help me please I'm locked in a closet" but then my phone died "no no no" I cried "this can't be happening" I cried as I kicked the door.

"Hey I got a text from Millie" Max stopped walking "what's it say?" Grayson asked "oh no Millie's in trouble" Max said looking from Grayson to the phone "it says she is in a closet?" Max said "what closet and why!?" Grayson asked "I don't know she won't reply, I think her phone died!" Max said "we have to find her!" Max cried "come on boy when going out for dinner" Max and Grayson turned around "no we have to find Millie she's gone!" Grayson and Max cried "I don't think we'll be needing to do anything" their dad smiled as he grabbed their arm "come on boys they won't wait any longer."

"Dad!" Max slapped him "no I'm not going anywhere!" Max yelled their dad stood there in shock "she's not worth it don't ruin this for a silly girl" me Johnson said smiling "screw you dad she's not just a stupid girl I love her and you're just gonna have to deal with that!" Max yelled "this Is why I'd do this in the first place she's just gonna break your heart she's not worth it!" Mr Johnson yelled "now come on or go to your room!" "Fine I'll go to my room" Max yelled and ran off. Grayson stood there in shock. Wow I guess he must love her that much! Grayson thought. Once max for to his room he read the text over and over again. max please help me please I'm locked in a closet. Max opened his door And searched every closet in the house. "I heard footsteps I tried not to Cry but tears just ran down my face breathing heavily the door handle moved "someone's trying to get in" I thought then the door opened. I closed my eyes shut in tears then I felt arm around me "hey, it's med" I opened my eyes. "Max" I hugged him "how did you find me" I asked in tears "my dad did this to you" he said softly I looked up at him "what?" I asked gently "he doesn't want me to be with you" he said quietly "but I think otherwise" max said softly as he grabbed my face close to his "you mean a lot to me okay I don't care what my dad says" I looked at max my face bright red "max" I said "please don't Ever leave me" a tear ran down my face. "Come on we have to get out of here before my dad sees you," Max said as he grabbed my hand and ran back to his room.
