Chapter 20

"Stay here" Max said as he handed me my pajamas he got from my room "I'm going to ask Diana about the pen" Max said, determined to find out who did this. "Dad, I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be back" Grayson said as he quickly walked out of the room. Grayson came to Max's room expecting to see max. He ran and hugged me "I'm so happy your okay" Grayson said looking at me "me to" I said "but this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for your dad" I said eyeing Grayson "so max told you about that-look I'm sorry I had no idea he was going to do that" Grayson apologized "I know i'm just messing with you" I said smiling. (Knock,knock) "hello" max said "oh hi what are you doing here" Diana said "I was just wondering out of curiosity if you um by any chance have a dip pen" Diana's face turned bright red "oh I'm getting a call talk later" Diana slammed the door in max's face "alright then" max said walking back to his room. Max opened the door to see Grayson and me sitting on the bed "hey what's going on in here?" Max asked "I told dad I was going to the bathroom to check on you to find out that you found Millie" Grayson said giving max a look "oh okay then" max said as he walked in and sat in the chair in front of us. "We'll?" I asked "oh-Diana totally has a dip pen when I asked her, her face turned bright red and then she pretended to have a call then proceeded to slam the door in my face" max said rolling his eyes. "Well, Do you think she did it?" I asked "no definitely not she has someone else write the notes" max said looking at Grayson. "Who?" I asked "I have a good feeling in my dad" Grayson added. "That would make sense" I said "why does your dad hate me?" I asked "he just doesn't know who you are" and Max said "who I am?" I asked, "yeah your dad owns this house" Grayson added. "What" I said in shock "my dad died last year" I said looking at the floor max looked at me "well your dad owns this house but we haven't seen him since the week before you moved in" Grayson commented.

After Grayson left I sat on the bed in silence. I didn't talk even when Max did. That night I stayed in Max's room. I didn't sleep one bit. I couldn't stop thinking about what he said "well your dad owns this house but we haven't seen him since the week before you moved in." In the morning Max's dad came into the room "where is she!" He yelled I quickly hid in the closet "where is who" max said innocently "oh down play dumb with me" yelled looking around the room tearing it apart. "She's not here I never found her" Max said "well someone did!" He yelled "what someone did!" Max yelled "who!?" Max asked "I don't know ugh your no help!" Max's dad yelled as he walked out. I quickly came out from the closet "what are we gonna do?!" I asked, trying to stay quiet "I don't know we have to find a way to keep you safe," Max said concerned. "We need to find my dad" I said "I thought your dad was dead?" Max asked "first of all ouch, second I don't think that was my real dad" I said "sorry and right" max said then we went to Grayson room. "Grayson, do you remember where her dad said he was going?" Max asked "no I think he went to someone's house" Grayson said "do you remember who?" I chimed in "I think he said a family member" Grayson said trying to think. "Did he leave a note?" Max asked "yea he did" Grayson said as he walked to his bookshelf. "Here " he said as he handed it to me. "Read it" Grayson said I nodded then I read.

"Dear Max and Grayson, I am going to visit one of my family members. Specifically Jazmin, I will be back in 1-2 months" I looked up at max . "Oh no, this Is bad" I said "what? What is bad!?" Max asked "he is going to see Jazmin, he is going to my old house!" I said "why is that a bad thing?" Max asked "because my house is a crime scene" I said panicking "what why?" Grayson asked Max to nudge him in the side "my parents were killed there there is blood all over the walls he will think we're dead!" I said panicking, pacing back and forth, my legs shaking, tears rolling down my face. "Millie sit down" Max said as he helped me sit. "Millie your leg is shaking" max said "max she's in tears" Grayson said as he knelt down and so did max. "Millie, are you okay!?" Max asked with a concerned look on his face. I couldn't speak my mind filled with thoughts. I felt Max grab my hand "Millie?" He repeated. I opened my eyes and tears kept running down my face. "Millie" I looked into Max's eyes as he hugged me "I'm sorry" I choked out. "Why are you sorry?" Grayson asked "for scaring you" I continued "no your fine as long as you're okay" max reassured me. "Are you okay?" Max asked "no not really" I said as I stood up. "I need some sleep," I said as I walked out. max followed. I sat down on my bed, so did max. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened?" I looked at Max "I don't want to talk about it I just want to be alone" I replied max nodded then left.
