More than falling down the imagination of pain after falling down bothers us. More than losing someone the thought of life after that shatters us. Fear affects us more than the actual happening, and that's the darkest side of fear towards which this story has stepped already.
After driving for a short Arjun stopped the car at a safe place. Picking a water bottle he sprinkled some water drops on Subhanwita's face. She opened eyes with a loud gasp.
"Am I still alive? Shooter had fired on me. Hadn't anything happened to me?" Subhanwita was panicking at her own words.
"Calm down, Subhi!" Arjun cupped her cheeks soothing her nerves to a great extend.
"Blood on your shirt! Did that shooter.....," Her eyes shifted to his shirt, and glued at there with a horrified look.
"Nothing has happened to me, Subhi. It's your blood. That bullet pierced your right arm slightly," Listening him she looked at her right arm which was bleeding, and at that moment she felt the pain.
Fear distracted her from feeling her pain, but as soon as she calmed a bit that brought her pain instead peace.
"We are safe now. Please hold on yourself," He opened the first aid box, and dressed her wound quickly.
After completing first aid Arjun drove back to home. Luckily no one was present at hall. Taking advantage of that chance he led her to their room quickly. Getting in Arjun called Mishika to his room over phone.
Mishika was shocked to see Subhanwita's bandaged arm.
"What happened to her?" Mishika's eyes got widened in shock.
"Her arm got pierced by a bullet. Please check her. I did the first aid, but I wanted to confirm that she's fine. So, called you here," Noticing Arjun's restlessness Mishika chose not to question him at that time.
"She's absolutely fine. How did she get injured?" After examining the wound Mishika assured with a small smile.
Arjun explained everything to Mishika which was unbelievable for her. She was standing silently allowing herself to break down at the reality narrated by Arjun.
"Tushar! How could he?" Mishika managed to ask tackling the pain of heart break.
"I am sorry, Mishu. I had told everything to Arjun. I couldn't hide anymore," Subhanwita grabbed her chance to apologize.
"Don't be stressed. It's fine," Even though the unexpected pain chocked her voice Mishika gathered those words to console Subhanwita.
"I will be back with ointment. It will reduce her pain quickly," That was the perfect reason for Mishika to left.
Excusing himself Arjun too went behind Mishika. He saw her making a call.
"Tushar, why did you do that? How could you break my trust?" Mishika questioned.
"Shut up! I don't want to listen anything from you. How could you expect me to believe you after confessing your crime?" Tushar had admitted everything, but that Mishika took that in a negative way.
"I would have forgiven you for playing with my feelings, but you attempted to kill my brother! How dare you! I will drag you behind the bars," Shouting at him she cut the call.
Sitting on bed she allowed her tears to flow down. Arjun's eyes were also moistened at the sight. Recollecting himself Arjun knocked at the door.
"I was about to come. It's good that you came here. Take this, and bandage her wound again applying this ointment," Mishika stood up, and turned her face quickly to find the ointment in drawer.
"If you need then I will reach to you at your one call," Arjun could sense Mishika's wish of sending him away as soon as possible.
Placing an affectionate hand at her head he left from there. Returning back Arjun didn't make any delay in obeying Mishika's instruction.
"You shouldn't come there," He was wrapping the bandage around her wound.
"I had to, Arjun. It was about your safety," She countered without knowing the the state of his heart.
"I am responsible enough towards myself, Subhi. Don't come behind me again," He stern yet cold voice made her flinch.
"Arjun, he would have harmed you, definitely. He was all prepared for that," An astonished gasp escaped from her mouth.
"Nothing is permanent in this life, not even anyone's company. Don't make the mistake of thinking me forever granted to you," He lashed out those words looking away from her.
"Try to get sleep, Subhi!" Helping her to lay down he switched off the light.
Darkness wasn't successful in assisting both of them to hide their grief. How could it succeed even when they both can feel each other without any source of light around them. She was shedding tears silently, and he wasn't ignorant about that.
Though he knew those words will hurt her he chose those to push her a little away from him, just only for her protection. He had accepted her pain thinking she would distance herself from dangerous issues at least for the shake of his changed attitude as he knew that she loved to see him cheerful rather than distressed.
