Hu: mild swearing/violence (also this is an alternate Raeda meeting/timeline)

No no no no no!

Raine rushed up the steps of Hexside. They couldn't be late for their first day! In a rush, They knocked into a Taller student.

"Ow." They said, rubbing their head with their... wrist?

(A/n: This part 👆🏽Raine not assuming Eda's Pronouns and the rest is outer perspec)

Raine scrambled to get away from the hand crawling around on the floor.

"Ugh not again." Eda snatched her hand off the ground and fastened it back on as she stood up slowly.

"I- sorry about that. I just transferred from St. Epiderm."

" Eh. 'S alright. No one likes being late to their first day."

Eda extended her hand out to the smaller witch

"I'm Eda Clawthorne."

"Raine Whispers." They returned the handshake. "Here let me get that for you"

They grabbed their violin and A few of Eda's Books. Potions of the Ages, Potions Origins, Benefits of the Bard.

Benefits of the bard?

Raine looked down at the book. It wasn't theirs.

"Are you looking into the Bard track?" They chuckled, handing it to her.

"Not really. I me and Lily were gonna try out for the EC, but I didn't wanna duel my sister to get in, so I kinda just ditched the coven idea. I mean, you gotta be your own damn witch!"

Raine laughed as they head to their History class with Eda.

"You are a Riot"

As time went on the two witches grew close, as friends and as classmates. The two were inseparable, two powerful forces in 1, but something had been Prying away at Both Eda and Raine, but neither were confident they would have a chance.

Raine believed Eda was a fantastic witch, smart, crafty, she worked hard to get to the top. They didn't think of themselves as an Equal to her, but inadequate. They were talented, but they trusted the wrong people, which usually got them in trouble. Talent can't make up for gullibility. They were so helplessly In love with Eda, it hurt. They feared she'd leave them in the dust if they were to confess their feelings to her.

Eda Didn't think very highly of herself either, not when she was comparing herself to Raine. They were quiet, they payed their best attention, they Aced each test and was Top of their track. It came easy for them, she had to work herself to the Owl Beast just to get a single good grade. She saw herself as no match to them. They were perfect in Eda's eyes, their kindness only made her Love them more. She was afraid she wasn't strong enough to be Raine's friend.

As it did each year, Grom rolled around eventually.

Raine was sitting at their normal table, writing down the sheet music for a Song they were working on with Eda. They stared down at their paper, the music was supposed to be at least a few minutes long. But they didn't have much so far.

"Rainestooooorm!" Eda sighed as she Sat down

"Yeah?"

"I hate Grom." She said, letting her head fall on the Lunch table.

"Why? Grom isn't for another week"

"I had to let down Another 'suitor' for Grom!" She groaned, brushing her fluffy hair out of her face as she sat up.
