It was a cold fall night, the leaves in the quaint town of Gravesfeild turning soft oranges and browns with each passing day
Each leaf reminding Luz of the place she once called home.
Each laugh reminding her of the calmness of the Isles.
Each month reminding her she couldn't go back.

Luz had drifted off at her desk again. The Noceda household was an eerie quiet. Just like how it was the night after her Father's funeral. The atmosphere was thick, and unforgiving, chills running down her spine, her tan skin, which had been picked at during her times of anxiety feeling the harsh wind out of the open window.
"Oh Titan."
Luz hastily closed the window, and sighed.
"I hope they're okay."
She looked over to her book-stack, and noticed the box of band-aids that had been left on her desk. The witch. The skeleton. The owl. Eda. King. Hooty.
Luz's face scrunched up, and she turned the box away from her. She hated the reminders that her real...no. Her birth home had given her. 'Home is where you belong. Not where you're from' Raine had told her. 'A family always accepts who you are' they'd said.
Amity had been stirring awake, and opened her eyes, the pair of small golden lights drifting over to find Luz, her hands gripping the sides of the desk, her head hung low. Amity watched as a few tears plipped down on the desk, illuminated by the moonlight.
"Oh batata..." Amity muttered, walking over to her awesome girlfriend™️ and gave the crying young girl a hug.
Young wasn't something you'd use to describe Luz. Especially if you were talking about her mental state. She had help stop a genocide for f**ks sake.
Luz couldn't help but cry into Amity's shoulder, her tears streaming down her cheeks, which were once a loving pink whenever Amity was around. She was too sad, too tired to feel flustered, the only thing that could come out of her were soft, quiet sobs, as Amity sat with Luz on the bed.
"It's okay, Eda and King are going to be fine, and if they aren't, we'll be with them soon. I promise."
Amity kissed Luz's forehead, and stroked her hair, hoping to calm her down.
Luz leaned into Amity's gentle hands, the touch of them soothing and serene.
Amity said those three little words for the first time.
"I love you." Her voice was low, and sweet, the words rolling off her tongue.
Luz couldn't help but feel a wave of excitement wash over her.
"I love you too, Amity." Saying it felt so natural. It felt right.
Amity smiled, and at some point, laid down next to Luz, as they talked the night away.
They talked until they were so tired from laughing silently they were falling asleep.
The two were curled up together, not a single thing disturbing them.
They were at peace with each other, and only with each other they were at peace.
It was a Wintry night, but the warmth of their hearts was unwavering by the cold of the chilliness of the fall season.

"Hey, batata?" Amity called, looking at Luz's phone
"Yeah?"
"What is a 'She-ra'?" Amity asked, pointing at the page which had a SPOP episode pulled up
"Oh, it's a popular show around here." Luz chuckled
"Ah. What is it about?" Amity tilted her head as she spoke
Luz then went on a 30 minute rant about the plot of the first 2 seasons. Mostly about the characters. It was a very interesting thing to witness. Amity just looked at her Awesome Girlfriend™️ and smiled. Luz hadn't been this happy since the Day of unity.
