Raine stood there, awestruck. She actually liked them back. They were so happy, they felt like they were full to the brim with excitement

"Yes yes yes yes yes yes!" They exclaimed

(A/N: meant to be read like Luz, also this was drafted in notes so I don't know how long this is 🥲)

They balled up their fists, a large smile stuck on their face, as they began to shake their hands violently as they jumped around, their heart racing.

*I have a shot! I have a shot with Edalyn Clawthorne!*

They couldn't believe it. After they calmed down, they opened a door leading to two lockers, they slowly crept out, making sure not to be seen.

They headed home, a smile plastered over their face.

"Hey songbird!" Their Mum Called over to them from the other room

"Hi mum!"

"You're in a good mood aren't you?" Their mother said, more like a statement than a question

"Yeah! Today was a good day."

"Did they announce this year's victim?" Their mum joked, walking into the room

"Yeah, actually. It's Eda." They sighed, unhappy with the circumstances.

"Oh. Such a shame. She's quite the tough one."

"But that's a good thing! If Grom cant find your fear, they can't hurt you!"

"No dear, I mean she must keep everything inside. Grom might just have a worse effect on her."

They were shocked. What could Eda be afraid of?

~timeskip to that night bc Lazy~

Eda lay in her bed, to anxious to sleep, to tired to stay awake. She wasn't sure if Raine's Rhapsody would keep the beast at bay, so she better not sleep until she can get her hands on more Elixirs.

She felt like she was falling. She was. She fell on her back, with a thud

Ouch.

A question she's never dare answer aloud rang in her ears, a deep voice coming from the large owl.

"What is your greatest fear, Edalyn."

"I don't know." She said, sitting up

"Tell me, what is it that eats you up from the inside out? What do you fear, Clawthorne?"

"I don't know! Get away from me, birdbrain!" She cried out, desperately trying to run away. She ran. And ran. And ran. Tears streaming from her eyes, she kept screaming. She kept running. She ran untill she wanted to trip and fall, she cried untill she felt sick, she screamed untill it was too painful to breathe.

She woke up in a cold sweat. She looked at herself in the mirror to find Just Edalyn. Just her, no beast. She sighed, thankful the beast hadn't come for her yet.

She checked the time.

11:28. She'd been asleep for nearly 20 minutes. Too paranoid to sleep, she decided she'd practice on her lute. Sure she was on the potions track, but she'd always been fond of all magics. Casting a silencing spell, so only she could hear her music, she plucked and played the Music that now haunted her dreams. Raine's Rhapsody. She began her part in the music, the sound soothed her, and she played on. She played for a long time, she played until she felt at peace, and played until her fingers hurt.

She checked the time again. 12:17 she didn't realize how long she'd played for. She mostly just played any song she could think of. She needed more ways to pass time. She read a few books she'd gotten from the book nook.
